They are super cute, but man, I hate cleaning it up twice a day because we still have it in a box right now and the girls are girly girls and won't pick up anything poopy...so that joy goes to Mom. I'd MUCH rather clean a stall. The kids do clean the cat box though...so I guess I can't complain too much.

He always looks good, but the running well part doesn't always happen. I don't think he liked the turf on Saturday as he wasn't the biggest fan of soft ground in Europe.

I have noticed that. They were quick about reporting them before the farm was sold, so I imagine those same people stayed on after the sell. If only the rest of Darley could be the same way.

They moved me up to the racehorse division today (which is apparently a very good thing because they only let competent people work with those horses.). My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I started looking at the stall cards. Suffice it to say that the value of every horse I've handled in my life *might* equal these seven.

Don't make the same mistake I did. My last relationship lasted 9 1/2 years and I was with my ex-fiance since I was 18 years old. Things were good for a while and then you-know-what hit the fan as he wanted his typical manly needs fulfilled at the snap of a finger. We honestly tried to make it work, but it is obvious he wanted more than just companionship and a potential wife. He would have been happier if he was engaged to a blow-up doll.
Now I can enjoy my freedom for the rest of my life and try to make up for nearly a decade of lost time. Lets just say, I am happy where I stand at and not interested in having any more headaches and anxiety attacks from LTRs.

I've learned the eons about myself since it ended, and I keep learning. There's no way I want to get married until I'm done with school.
I ended my only dead-beat relationship pretty quick. I've watched a lot of friends wither away in horrible relationships, and I don't think I could ever let someone do that to me. It's heart breaking to watch. That's my mom's fault, I guess, she's drilled it into my head to accept nothing less than far above average. If you met her, you'd know why. She's insane.

If you guys could list any band/artist you know of who either mentions drugs (alcohol, drugs, or Rx), has a member that has been known to use them, could you give them to me? I need it for a project.
Hellacopters: "Freespeedin" references alcohol and the entire band drinks.
Gang Green: "Another Wasted Night", "Alcohol"... obvious references. Entire band drinks.
...and about 8 million others. Those are the first 2 off the top of my head.

These are supposedly reference to drugs, but a lot of arguments are made as far as The Beatles' one:
"Along Comes Mary" by The Association
"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by The Beatles

Just songs that have references to alcohol, drugs, etc. or do the songs have to be by bands/individuals who are known to use them?
Either or. I'm doing a presentation on drugs and their prevelance in music/the link between music and chemical dependancy, so either'll work.
Ironically, heavy metal is supposed to be considered as reliable a "predictor" as rap for chemical dependency/troubled youth. Every rap arist I own something of mentions drugs. I cannot think of more than 2 metal artists who reference drugs lyrically.
Thanks a bunch guys.

In reference to that Beatles song, the capitalized letters in the song title stand for "LSD" and then Lennon (or some other Beatle) made the argument that his son drew a picture of Lucy in the sky with the diamonds thing.
The Association's song is a reference to marijuana (Mary).

But it's an old cemetery, and looking at some of the dates, there was one person there born in 1844 and died in 1922. Think about it, they lived through both the Civil War and WWI. Others were born in 1899, and I was thinking, were they worried about the new turn of the century like we did.

What a morning at work so far...
Fixing a prolapsed rectum on a pitbull puppy and trying to save a cat's life because she only gave birth to one kitten three days ago and we had to extract out all the dead kittens.
I loved working in the animal hospital....people just have no idea. We'd hire these girls and then take bets on how long they would last...most people think it's going to be fun playing with puppies and kitties all day long, when while you get to do that some of the time, it's pretty darned rare...my first day...I had to pick tiny maggots out of this poor little Am. Eskimo....and I hate maggots more than anything else in the world.
I know what you mean. A lot of people that want to volunteer at my work think it is all about shots and wellness check-ups. They are in for a rude awakening when they have to clean up the bloody watery BM from a parvo-inflicted puppy, having a psychotic cat go ape on you, extracting a foxtail out of dog's nostril, fixing an abscess that is filled with pus that is congealed like tofu, and watching the removal of a pyometra because the owner did not want to fix the dog. There is a lot more bad than good that comes through a vet's office. Very ugly stuff and you have to have a sound mind, iron heart and the stomach to handle it.

The only time I ever nearly vomited is when these people brought their 100lb lab in who had passed away in the backyard overnight in the summer and laid outside until the afternoon...they brought him over so the body guy could pick him up for a private cremation...he was definitely more than ripe. The only time I ever panicked is when my own cat was on the surgical table and went into DIC. My boss fortunately saved her...which is nearly unheard of when an animal OR human develops that. I think she's a little brain damaged now and her platelet counts have never been the same since. I was there for 8 long years and I will always cherish my time there and the learning experience it gave me. BTW...I LOVE abscesses. lol...even after I didn't work there anymore they would call me for a particularly good one.

Hey, I just had to make that decision. If it's a forever job, maybe try to find something else if you have the means to do so. If it's something you'll just do for a year, then I'd take it if it pays you a living wage and you like what you're doing.

I'm not looking at it as a forever job, but there is the possibility of promotions in the company. I really just want to get my student loan paid off, and my parents aren't going to make me move out anytime soon. My only problem is I go off of my parent's insurance in November, so I need something with benefits. If the position I get is full time, I'll be okay in that regard. I don't even know what the job will be just that the manager said they would have something for me next month when I went back home.
