Ok guys I know this is covered here somewhere but I have to have it right now. Need the times these races will be run on Friday and saturday for pacific time. I have found out that I have to record this somehow and I now have to buy a dvd recorder as well. I cannot miss this.
The sad thing in all of this is I will be at my stepbrothers funeral on novemeber 6th and I will miss this. This seems a bit crazy but I have looked forward to these races all year and really want to see what happens. Could someone please help and if ya have an idea for a easy recorder let me know. I don't want to get the thing from cmcast. I want my own recording if that is possible for me to do.
Anyways all help will be appreciated.
Thanks guys
Ingrid

Pacific is 3 hours behind Eastern, and 1 hour behind me (Mountain). Not sure about the races themselves, but for Friday, you'll want to record from 1pm-5pm. Saturday, it'll be 10:30am until 4pm. Can't help you with what channels, since I'm in Canada and I don't even have access to ESPN or whatever channels America uses. In Canada, it'll be airing ESPNs feed on TSN and TSN2 (and a couple hours on ABC, but I'll ignore that and choose TSN2 instead. Support Canada! lol)
I'm copying this from some random website and adjusting to Pacific times:
FRIDAY:
5th Race 1:10 PM
6th Race 1:50 PM
7th Race 2:30 PM
8th Race 3:10 PM
9th Race 3:50 PM
BC Ladies S. 4:30 PM
SATURDAY:
4th Race 10:50 PM
5th Race 11:30 PM
6th Race 12:15 PM
7th Race 12:55 PM
8th Race 1:40 PM
9th Race 2:20 PM
BC Turf S. 3:00 PM
BC Classic S. 3:45 PM

I must say, the television schedule for the BC is wild. I need to set my DVR by tomorrow night so went looking for the schedule.
Is this how it usually is? I haven't set the BC to record in a long time, but decided I'd try it this time. The last time I did, the power went out in the middle of the broadcast so I only saw an odd assortment of races.
Friday, 11/5 (all times Eastern)
ESPN2 4-8pm (or 1-5 PDT)
Sat, 11/6
ABC 1:30-3:30p (or 10:30-12:30 PDT)
ESPN 3:30-7p (or 12:30-4:00 PDT)

I think last year was the first year they decided being all over the place was a good move;) I don't recall they did it in 2008?
But ESPN has only had the event since 2006. Most unfortunate that there are at least three more painful years of the BC with them after this.

Ugh. The BC on NBC was so much...happier. I loved having it all in one freaking place. It saddens me that the CLASSIC, of all races, won't be on a network station. Le sigh...

Nice to see TSN covering ESPN's coverage here in Canada. Do you know if it's the full coverage?

It appears to be. On Friday, TSN will air from 4-8 (the whole day's races). On Saturday, ABC and TSN2 will both start coverage at 1:30. ABC will stop at 3:30, but TSN2 will continue until 5pm, and then the coverage switches over to TSN until 7pm. It's kinda confusing, but it's all there (thank GOD!). I had a minor panic attack for a day or so, because the airing times weren't available yet and it looked like there'd be a gap between 3:30 until 5, which would mean I'd miss 2 or 3 of the races. But TSN2 fills in that spot.
If this was last year, I wouldn't have access to TSN2 and I'd be on a warpath (with tears and words of sorrow mixed in). But we recently got a DVR or something, that adds in so many more channels, and TSN2 is one of those channels. Thank the good Lord for that. And my parents, who technically own it . I'm sure it'll all air online, but I gotta have every year's edition of the Breeders' Cup recorded on tape or disc. I just have to. There's no alternative. I think I missed that first year (or was it the second year?) that ESPN got the coverage rights, because Canada's stations didn't have time to get the rights to air it too. Man was that a horrible year. But maybe TSN did manage to air some of it (I feel like they did, at the last minute).
NBC was cheesy, sure, but they were awesome. Sure, there was lots of filler, but with a half hour between races, and the hope of drawing in more fans, you kind of NEED filler. ESPN produces some dull coverage. NBC really turned the Breeders' Cup into an EVENT.

Anyone have any online ideas for catching the races? I'm not in the States or Canada and only have access to ABC. I can't even get acces to ESPN3.

Account wagering companies will have video, and breederscup.com might have live video too

NBC makes 4 times the $$$ off of Notre Dame Football that it made off of the Breeders Cup

I am surprised that so many people in the U.S. appear to not have ESPN/ESPN2.
We can't get regular TV without having that darned converter box so what are people doing? For me, ESPN is part of my regular Comcast cable package. I think ESPN2 is also. ESPN Classic, for instance, may be part of an expanded service.
HRTV and TVG are included in the digital service which is $5 extra a month.
You'd think that all Comcast subscribers (throughout the country) would have the same options, but apparently that's not the case. I shouldn't even have Comcast because of where I live, but I am thankful I do if only for the internet connection.

You'd be surprised in how many people that don't have cable or satellite

Obviously. LOL
I am quite surprised that I get it because I'm in such a rural area ... big farm, very few houses on a two mile long road.
Dish is cheap though so I'm kind of surprised that people don't subscribe to it. I'd have gone with them for internet and TV if I didn't need a fast upload speed for high res photo files. I do remember the days of dial-up when sending ONE file took something like 12-15 minutes. Try sending 20 images under those conditions and see if you aren't bald by the end of the night. ;-) With Comcast, that same process takes about 2 minutes.

I don't have cable TV.
First of all, affording it is a big stretch. Second, I happen to rent in a house where no one has had cable for so long that the cable literally doesn't run from the street into the house. I'd have to get written permission and all kinds of stuff just to get Comcast to string the cable, drill into the walls, etc. Not worth it. I'll save the $60-100 bucks a month and spend it on my horse.
My friend still pays for cable, for instance, but to save money they've reduced it to the bare minimum. So, they don't get ESPN anymore.
I will most likely have to go to the track to watch all the BC.

You could also give your friend $20 or whatever it would be to upgrade to ESPN for a week. I don't know how everyone's cable provider is but with mine I can call on Friday have them hook up the channel for Saturday then cancel it on Monday morning. The charge will be equal to the days I had it hooked up. So a package that is $30 a month really only costs $2 for a weekend. Changes to service are also free.

I have thought very seriously about doing that! I'll have to see if they mind me camping out at their house all Friday afternoon and much of Saturday!

Yeah, that's the trick. It's hard to find friends that don't mind you taking over their TV for that much time!

I am late but I wanted to say THANK YOU everyone for your help and Ingrid thanks for putting those times down. I went and bought a dvd recorder thing and now have to learn to program. Been a hellatious week and am bummed I will not be able to watch but that is life. I have comcast too and wanted Dish but found out I have trees which block. Live in a n apartment and did not want a view of the parking lot where I CAN get dish oh well.... Wish also that Comcast would bring on HRTV too. Darn it all.
Anyways all thanks very much and now I have a week or so to learn this taping thing.
Bye for now and yes I should have had Comcast hook the DVR up for me but can't afford to take any time off of work. WAHHH!

Will ESPN be streaming on their website, and more importantly, will that even work in the UK?
