or maybe the dirt just likes her better.
i hope mike smith doesn't fear getting the lead too early. she won't slow down as much after getting the lead on the dirt. he should ride to take the lead at the 1/8th pole. she'll romp.

And I agree that she likes dirt and even improves on it.
He's picking her to run fourth though. Behind Musket Man.

On last years Classic and about this years.
But now I have to save ground, I can't spot them five lengths and circle the field. I saw Gio Ponti down on my inside and just dropped in behind him and followed him through. He split them and I went around him at the same time. I could hear the crowd roar and it was so loud and she just took off, but in taking off she was taking off with fun, she was literally pricking her ears and just rolling down the lane. When she passed Gio Ponti I was just beside myself, I could hardly believe that she'd just done what I'd just seen her do.

I was just watching the Apple Blossom from way back when, she really does seem to have an even better turn of foot on dirt, or perhaps it's her windup that is faster. She struck the front sooner than in her polytrack races. That could come in handy.

that first apple blossom that zen won... i still remember watching it - she wasn't running anyone down - she was just running - she started running around the home turn and just kept going and going - that race was one she really won for pure fun - she seemed to be really enjoying the running and it wasn't like she was chasing anyone - she was just running for the sheer thrill of it - not only is she better on dirt... i think she clearly just loves it so much better!!
