Finally getting a chance to go through some photos and I thought some folks might enjoy seeing War Chant and Lewis Michael stretching their legs. It was so cool to see them gallop- I've wanted to see it ever since I saw the photos of Seattle Slew at the farm under tack. Photos here:

Those are really nice, Sarah. I hated mine ... didn't even bother trying to get permission to post them. It was dark and not a nice day. I basically just stood and watched. Pretty lighting.

Thank you- I definitely lucked out with the light and timing, since many of the galloping photos I've seen are quite dark. I wish I could spend more time in Kentucky- so much to see!

When do they gallop the boys? They've told me I can come back and watch them gallop but I live so far away so I only go about once a year to inspect the studs and see our babies

They start early (7:30?) ... we missed the first horse (Flower Alley) because we were driving up and down the road (in the wrong town) in the pitch dark ... and we'd have been standing out there in complete darkness at that point.
so plan it so that in Kentucky, it's actually light at 7:30; i.e., don't go during the last month or so of daylight savings.
Consider that the entire week before the Breeders' Cup, every shot taken before the break was in darkness. Even at 8:30, when the track first reopened, it wasn't great, but the Sunday after the B.C., 8:30 a.m. was 7:30 a.m. so you'd have better luck then.
But if you just want to watch them gallop, that's a little different from trying to photograph them.

One day I'd love to see them do that. Though I know it's not easy to do. War Chant looks fabulous! He's always been one of my favorites there. I wish he had raced longer. Thanks for posting these. They are beautiful!
