One of the top Arabian handicap horses in the country is a 4yo colt named T M FRED TEXAS. He is by the outstanding Arabian sire Burning Sand, out of the Kong mare Queen Kong. Note that Arabians can't race until they are three years old, so this is technically his sophomore year on the track.
T M Fred Texas has a record of 10-8-1-0 and earnings of $111,580, quite a sum for a young Arabian colt. His full past performances are as follows:
1st: Maiden Special Weight @ Arapahoe Park (8/7/10)
1st: Allowance @ Arapahoe Park (8/15/10)
4th: Alec Courtelis Arabian Juvenile Stakes (G3) @ Delaware Park (9/11/10)
1st: Arabian Stallion Stakes @ Lone Star Park (11/6/10)
1st: Allowance @ Sam Houston Park (1/28/11)
1st: Texas Six Shooter Arabian Stakes (G2) @ Sam Houston (3/4/11)
2nd: H.H. Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Arabian Cup Stakes (G3) @ Sam Houston (4/9/11)
1st: President of United Arab Emirates Cup Stakes (G1) @ Churchill Downs (6/18/11)
1st: Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Arabian Cup Open Stakes (G2) @ Delaware Park (7/2/11)
1st: Allowance @ Arapahoe Park (8/6/11)

Great pictures! Thanks for posting them. :)
Fred Texas won his fourth in a row today in the Milemakers Classic (G3) at Arapahoe. Right now it seems like he has Horse of the Year pretty much locked up, but I can't wait to see how he finishes out the year.

Awesome! I hadn't checked his results in my Stablemail, but was hoping he won! Any idea if he might come back out here to Delaware this year?
Now THAT'S an Arab. I love the way he looks.

I saw that race at Arapahoe he left them behind like it was nothing. THe betting on him was crazy, it was worse than when TM Superbird or when Black Beaches was running. Arapahoe Finally quit doing win, place, and show when these two are running. THey only allowed win and place wagering.

I agree with that. What kind of lines does the racing stock come from, perhaps Polish?

Fred runs this Saturday at Delaware in a G2. I'm trying my hardest to get down there, but I'm supposed to work at 7:30 back up here near Philly (and the race isn't supposed to run until at least 6:15), so I just don't know if I can make it.
Also, I found a page showing Fred as a youngster! http://www.burningsandinternational.com/sales/fredtexas
And here is his full sister! --> http://www.burningsandinternational.com/sales/queenb/

Thanks Catinca for the amazing shots (as always!) I also love his look... not the crazy-dishy and snakey look that show Arabs have.

Race just happened... I missed the beginning but it sounds like Ovour the Top fell or clipped feels or broke down somehow near or at the start, and Fred Texas fell over him.

Oops. No, that's incorrect. Ovour the Top veered coming out of the gate into Fred, both horses lost their riders, and Ovour the Top went the wrong way around the track, while Fred kept following the rest of the horses. Anyone with news? I'm assuming both are fine, and the announcer said both riders seemed okay.

Entered in the Delaware Classic this Saturday:

I'm curious about the change of ownership. I was just reading a magazine article that mentioned Sam Vasquez was interested in campaigning him in the Middle East himself this winter. I wonder what the plan will be for Fred Texas now.

Thought I'd bump this up since Fred is racing on Arc day tomorrow in the Qatar Arabian World Cup (G1), the richest Arabian race in the world. :) Here's his record so far this year:
March 14: 1st Losail Cup - 6 furlongs - Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, Qatar
March 31: 1st Dubai Kahayla Classic (G1) - 1 1/4 miles - Meydan, UAE
May 19: 1st President of the UAE Cup (G1) - 1 1/16 miles - Pimlico, USA
September 16: 3rd Qatar Cup (G2) - 1 1/4 miles - Longchamp, France
His last start was his turf debut and he was beaten less than a length off of a layoff. I imagine he'll be much sharper tomorrow. His race is the one immediately following the Arc. Areej is the defending champion.
Qatar Arabian World Cup (G1) - 700,000 EUR - 4YO+ - 1 1/4 miles

Well that explains why I haven't seen him this summer at Arapahoe. Good Luck Fred!

Beautiful, accomplished horse!
I was wondering if you can tell me what is the governing body for racing Arabians, iwo, the equivalent of the JC.

In the US that would be the Arabian Jockey Club/Arabian Horse Association. www.arabianracing.org

That was kind of a bummer. :( I wonder if the going was just too heavy for him. He did have a lot to do coming from so far back but I thought he'd have more of a kick. Hopefully he gets another chance next year.

TM Fred Texas is running in the Arabian race, the 1st race on the Dubai World Cup card, which he won last year. Even though he represents Qatar now, I hope he repeats, and that I'll be able to see the replay somewhere.:)

Thank you for pointing this out! I'll definitely make a point of watching that one. I got to see him run last year at Pimlico, what a treat!

Fred has run 5th in his two previous starts this year in Qatar, but hopefully he'll improve on a track that we know he likes! I hope I can find the race somewhere. TVG showed the Arabian race on Arc day last year so maybe there's hope?
His full brother TM Junior Johnson is also entered, but he'll have to overcome a pretty long layoff. He had some setbacks after arriving in the UAE last year so he hasn't run since last March at Sam Houston.

I don't think it's going to be televised on TVG, but you can catch the Dubai Kahayla Classic here. Post time is 8:30 a.m. EDT. http://amwestentertainment.com/dubai-racing/live-video/

Two French horses beat him in a photo finish, Al Mamun Monlau was first and Versac PY second.
Did TM Junior Johnson come in last?

It was hard to tell from the camera angles, but it looked like Fred had nowhere to go until it was too late to make an impact. Tough luck, but knowing how long Arabians stick around I'm sure they'll try again next year if he's still doing well.
The UAE President's Cup will be back Churchill Downs this year on Stephen Foster day (or night I guess?). The purse has been bumped up from $75,000 to $100,000. I hope Fred makes the trip! :)

Now THAT'S an Arab. I love the way he looks.
Finally, an Arab with some muscle and substance. He's super looking.
Years ago I saw an Arab race on TV, it was beautiful to watch - tails flying, but it looked liked they were cantering or at least a hand galloping. Still fun to watch.
