Kauto Star had a pretty bad fall while schooling, is sore, and is in doubt now for the Cheltenham GC. Nicholls says "50/50."

Kauto Star to step up work
05 Mar 2012 | Racingpost.com
Kauto Star completed another work morning on Sunday and trainer Paul Nicholls is now near to stepping up the dual Gold Cup winner's exercise programme as he bids to get his Cheltenham challenge back on track.
On a wet morning at Ditcheat, Kauto Star had another strong canter with two work companions to leave Nicholls satisfied with his continuing recovery from the soreness sustained when he took a fall when schooling a week last Friday.
In his latest bulletin on his Betfair column, Nicholls said: "He [Kauto Star] had his physio and an hour on the walker and then we gave him a strong canter over ten furlongs with That'll Do and Rowdy Rampage.
"All was fine. In fact, I bet he wishes we had left him in his stable and gave him the day off as it was pissing down! We will look to step up his work next week and I will give a further update tomorrow."
Last year's winner Long Run heads the Gold Cup betting at 6-4, with Kauto Star at 4-1 and Burton Port and Grands Crus hovering around the 7-1 mark.

Kauto seems to be recovering quite well, no further setbacks. Here he is this morning going through the same training routine as the rest of the Nicholls Cheltenham team.
