Re: In memoriam 2018

According to Pedigreequery, Apple Betty died in February due to botulism. She was a full-sister to Magician, and a globetrotting Gr.III winner in the US. She was an Aiden O’Brien trainee...is this the virus that has gone through his stables? Can anyone confirm this? Botulism is a toxin produced by ...

Re: Travers 2018

What could have been a great stretch duel sullied a bit by the fact that the rail is clearly a better place to be and Elate definitely lost momentum from that bump. If the rolls were reversed and Elate was on the inside and came out and bumped Abel, and Abel had lost momentum, I suspect Elate would...

It's possible that Bobby's death and the use of Roundup at the track are connected...or that these are two separate issues. [snip]
Unless someone had that horse on a Round Up drip prior to being worked, it's not "possible".

Re: Breeders' Cup Top 5

A good year for the distaff side to eye the Classic instead. If someone were to hand you a bag with $3M in it to buy any of the fillies or mares on that list to divert to the Classic, which one would you pick and why? Give me $6m and I'll buy two, Tasmin and Bella. I don't see any names among those...

Just a general question -- is there a drug testing protocol in place for these sales?

Re: The WAR HORSE Chronicles

12 year old gelding Pacific Tsunami won R4 at Marquis Downs this evening. He resembles a largish shetland pony in physique, but he got the job done.

A brief video from our modest little track this evening -- very scenic!

The owner of Accolade has issued a second statement, and he sounds a bit less angry with the assistant starter. There are also some comments after the article that provide some insights/observations/opinions that consider the starter's actions as much less than 'animal cruelty.' https://www.paulick...

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

'Chrome's little brother Faversham just took the 5th at Santa Anita in fine fashion, with a very good kick to pass the leaders and pull away to win by open lengths. Looks like the grass is his future. We were touristing at Santa Anita for an hour or so this afternoon, and were at the paddock where ...

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

Not cheap (around $200) but have you run her DNA? Not that it matters but sometimes it's interesting. I think a lot of shelters are pressed to come up with "possible breeds" and it can be nearly impossible sometimes. Also it's funny that usually it's a two-breed guess maximum! I'm tempted to run it...

Further in the article is a mention that the Darley Arabian line was "defunct" in the US. MUSKETIER (GER) gr/r. H, 2002 is from that sire line, standing at Calumet. Unfortunate that a tough one like him hasn't had more opportunities. https://www.bloodhorse.com/stallion-register/stallions/165915/mus...
