Re: Earthquakes, Tsunamis & Volcanos

There was a 4.2 mag quake near Fort Saint John in BC here yesterday at about 5:30 pm; and it was thought that fracking in the area caused or contributed to it but with this Biggie in Alaska more likely those are related.

Re: Stallion News

Both of mine are registered as dark bay but one was actually smokey black; his muzzle was black all year round. He had cream colored hair in his ears and lighter brown eyes. Was black in winter but would turn a burnished brass color on his sides and butt in summer. He also had a dorsal stripe down h...

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

I really like her too; she's built pretty well and moves nice as well as the lacy pattern. Her sire Purge has some chrome too but I'd like to know where lace came from.

Re: Thanksgiving

So sorry you're suffering with stones; stayed close by with a friend who was in agony with them. Finally passed them in hospital. First 14 years of my life I was sick with chronic pylo nephritis; finally the left kidney was removed and I felt normal and pain free for the first time in my life. Most ...

Re: Thanksgiving

Yeah, rain. And lots of it. It's not unusual to get a 70 mm day here. The atmospheric ceiling feels like it's only 20 feet overhead all winter into late spring unless we have a flash freeze and then we get a little gift of sunshine but then the moisture rolls in again with ice storms and high winds;...

Re: Thanksgiving

Too right you are! Just in from the barn and the pouring rain to a warm cat and a cozy couch ... I could cook up a turkey thigh...and I must always remember the simple stuff to be thankful for. ;)

Re: In memoriam 2018

Wonderful horse gone too soon but truly loved and appreciated by his closest people. He was as lucky to have them as they were to know him; Joey must be heart broken. I was rooting for him to overcome that abscess nightmare back in 2011 and was so happy that he pulled through.

I check this section several times a day hoping that there's been contact in some form with"Baroque Again" hoping they've managed to keep body and soul connected; the aftermath of this horrific disaster will likely be all consuming for a very long time to come.

Re: Trigger Warning injured

He sustained a condylar fracture left foreleg after the wire winning the Steel Valley Sprint stakes at Mahoning valley.
Bumped into Bobby's Wicked One during the race, I wonder if that had something to do with it.

Re: In memoriam 2018

I wonder if the "pop" he remembered hearing was his own neck vertebra fracturing; at the instant of nerve impingement it's possible that the sequence of messages from the senses going back to the brain get a bit jumbled in recollection.

Re: In memoriam 2018

What necropsy results take over a month to attain? Gross dissection is done as a matter of course with racing animals; particularly the limbs, grading of articulating surfaces respective to wear/damage, condition of musculoskeletal tissues etc. and records are kept on this I thought. Toxicology findi...

Re: Jockey/Trainer News - 2018

When this happened to this horse and it got all the attention online. I took the time to watch all Accolade's previous starts. The horse under Cristophe Clemente was fine in the gate. as a matter of fact I was quite touched at how the starter in his first race at Belmont was so gentle and reassuring...

Re: Waiting for news on ...

Three months with a persistent infection from the hardware and another month before it can be safely removed is not the best news. I really feel for all who are close to this very special horse. Is that a pressure sore on his hip?

I do think about this guy everyday and I hope he kicks the hell out of this infection and gets home with his people sooner than soon. Gotta be very hard on them in the meantime.

I see Arch in many of his sons and daughters ESPECIALLY the ears. lol. It's a very distinct, offsided diamond shape. Hard to describe in words.
