Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

He technically ran once and the voters do strange things. It is best not to think of these awards at all, and I used to duke arguments about them out with the best of them. I imagine thinking about them is a leading cause of lost sanity.

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

I can't really imagine what it's like to set up a Twitter thinking that you'll just share some picks about whatever racing thing you're thinking if, only for it to be thrown back in your face like is happening here. It is abundantly strange. TA, I do have some new found respect for you. I could neve...

Re: 2019 derby prep races.

It was discontinued effective last year. Its always interesting to see how races fall in and out of favor. If that race wasn’t run on what is essentially a bullring, it would probably still be around. When CDI restructured the points a couple of years ago, the race was doomed. Most top trainers jus...

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

It is more fair. And it's way too soon to know if the points system is truly changing the race.

It's just interesting that literally changing the basis for entry isn't talked about at all in terms of keeping the TC sacred.

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

Did the people in 1950's America feel the Triple Crown was garbage when they had seven Triple Crown winners in the previous twenty years? They did not because they had something we do not - respect. Ah yes, those halcyon days of respect and civility in America- the Jim Crow Era. Don't forget McCart...

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

The endless meandering before his retirement, the insistence that they really did want to keep racing him but just couldn't, the weird multi-month denial of the stud deal, the immediate turnaround on advertising tickets to visit him at stud. And subsequently, the dismissive thinkpieces from some se...

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

That being said, I could never be convinced to actually attend the event, and it strikes me as yet another example of how racing fans are being priced out of the game in favor of people with deep pocketbooks and an endless desire to drink outdoors. I don't know if that model- or the model of the ra...

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

More the dirt one, for the following reasons: 1. America's deep-seeded love with capitalism aka immediate gratification means that majority of lucratively bred race horses will go to the shed for immediate returns than will stick around for this race. 2. True sportsmanship is dead. See reason 1. 2A....

You do you, but you can sit in the bleachers to watch the Yankees play a decent team for less.

I can't. I literally then asked a question to Tessa's response. It was a point I hadn't considered.

The passive agressiveness and the words being shoved in my internet mouth are reminders of why frequent breaks are mandatory here.

I forgot that no one can ask questions on this forum. It's a shame and it's annoying.

Re: 2018 Royal Ascot

I'm hardly disparaging them. I'm just legitimately curious if running 5th in a European Classic is going to get him another $10k tacked onto his fee. I don't know what breeders look for.

Re: 2018 Royal Ascot

I'm sure it's a covert way of saying a Group win in Europe would look better than a G1 here.

I'm not sure how this looks good on a sratllion resume. Since when is also-ran a selling point?

Run 5th for pennies or run over here in the Manhattan for possible several hundred thousand. Ok.
