Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

Don't care that Justify is undefeated, because he only raced 6 times. So that doesn't count. He's also not the only undefeated TC winner, if he is, then Slew is too. He has 4 G1s to his resume, but all in restricted company. If those 3 G1s wouldn't be called the Triple Crown, there wouldn't even be ...

Re: Breeders' Cup Watchalong Thread

Damn, was hoping Mendy wouldn't have to gun it out so much at the start (still think he's better than Thunder Snow) and maybe he was a bit tired after the JCGC. Nothing to be ashamed of, he's still my fave! Great race by Accelerate, Thunder Snow and yay for Yoshida! This should mean HOTY for him, at...

Re: Breeders' Cup Watchalong Thread

I see that Game Winner sold for only $110,000 at Keeneland September last year. Is there anything in a horse's walk that tips off that it will "paddle" at a hard gallop? I'm sure it isn't a desirable feature--I used to cringe every time they showed little St. Trinian's from a head-on shot! Ha! He a...

Re: Breeders' Cup Watchalong Thread

Game Winner has a funny action with his right front (not saying there is any issue, he just runs a bit funny  ), it's like his left leg runs straight forward and with the right he draws a circle.

I have to say I also really like William Buick. Honest, straight forward answers without the usual "nonono my horse never touched anyone BS".

Re: Sol Kumin

I totally agree with you. It's fine to buy horses that raced already (see for example Jackson with Curlin and Rachel)! But as you pointed out, that is something entirely different. I don't want to award the Eclipse to someone who just casts a wide net with buying into 10% shares. What's next, gettin...

Re: Sol Kumin

Personally, I would only give the Eclipse award to controlling interests. It's something entirely different to pick out a horse before it runs, calling all the shots, than to invest a share in a standout maiden winner. The way this is set up it's like the stock market with share holders. I don't min...

12-1 on Mendy sounds good to me. And as usual - I'll be rooting for him and betting on him. Just hope he steps forward of his last race.

Re: Hoppertunity

I hope he is a success at stud. His pedigree is nothing to sneeze at, he is sound as they come and proven himself over and over on the track. If I would be breeding to race, I'd breed a mare to him . Or let me phrase it this way: I'd prefer him over Justify any single day of the week. ;)

Re: 2018 JCGC and AA Watchalong

I agree that Mendy is better than Diversify (that was just like a match race), but disagree that Thunder Snow is better. The race set up perfectly for whoever wasn't up front. If Mendy steps forward of this race (and that's the big if) then he should have a good shot at the BCC. Still can't believe ...
