Re: Cozmic One

I saw his position yesterday but did not realize that made him eligible for the finale, which I missed, Did anyone see his performance today?

Beautiful Morning, a daughter of Date With Destiny, George Washington's only foal, won the Royal Whip S (G3) at the Curragh today.

Re: Travers 2018

Catholic Boy ran beautifully, I do wonder how Mendelssohn would do with an American jockey when he’s here.

Good Magic looked tiny and kinda thin, Gronk and Tenfold looked good coming out. Wonder Gadot looked really good as well.

Re: Travers 2018

Abel Tasman may have done well along the rail, but Marley's Freedom had to come four wide to take the G1 Ballerina. Maybe Mike Smith's winning touch with distaffers matters more than which part of the track the horse is on? :P Probably the winning touch of his left handed whip in the Personal Ensig...

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Not necessarily famous, but half-siblings Puttheglassdown (Violence) and Fixedincome Larry (Flatter) both finished second in their respective races at Saratoga. They are both out of the Not For Love mare Comet of Love. I was rooting for Puttheglassdown - saw him schooling this week, he is absolutel...

Re: Travers 2018

That was pretty close but not bad enough to take Baffert down the day after they honored him with his red jacket.

First Starter is First Winner for Mr. Besilu https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/228638/first-starter-is-first-winner-for-mr-besilu I have the same affection for him as I had for the Green Monkey. As a huge Zenyatta fan it would be great to see the son of Balance do well at stud (cuz sa...

That's pretty funny (and ironic, given he starts off with the example of the 'Pletcher Wall').

Looking at that makes me think maybe there's more to all the butthurt about the Belmont than the actual race ;)

Re: Belmont Saturday Watchalong thread

The WaPost story (and the DRF's) brings up lots of issues. I think it's possible that Restoring Hope was rank and out of Geroux’s control and he needed to settle him behind Justify so as not to get in a speed duel that wouldn't benefit either horse. Don't even want to imagine the conversation betwe...

Re: Belmont Saturday Watchalong thread

No one is stopping them... there's a reason we are keeping this discussion outside of the Justify thread. Why go out of your way to come back to something that aggravates you over and over again if it's impeding your enjoyment? Plus some people actually do care - Stark explained why, and his reason...

Re: Belmont Saturday Watchalong thread

I think the simplest answer is that many people just don't want it to be true I think it's more likely that they just don't care if it's true. If they didn't they wouldn't be so sore about it and fighting the possibility of it. They'd say "Yeah so what if it's true?" then shrug and move on. But the...

Re: Belmont Saturday Watchalong thread

I didn't see any horse with a chance to get into a speed dual with him other than Bravazo, who could've but didn't. At the end of the day I think the way Justify broke like a rocket and went 23.37 had more to do with it than Restoring Hope.

Re: Belmont Saturday Watchalong thread

I don't get all the whining about Restoring Hope - he didn't slam anyone coming out of the gate or otherwise endanger another horse. They had a mile and a half to pass Justify and they couldn't.

I think the best one on twitter was "Gronkowski finished second. Would have finished first had he not been out late last night"

He ran a great race!

Re: Cozmic One

It didn't sound like the person talking knew very much about him at all - I would be surprised if her family has any ownership in the horse at all (I doubt Moss would sell him to anyone let alone a teenager) but I never thought they'd geld him either....
