I wouldn't be surprised if he stands at their Japanese or French division.

Re: Mendelssohn

I find, if the Coolmore team knows that they have a Camelot, Australia, Gleneagles, Minding, etc. on their hands, they race them sparingly. If the horse takes two or three starts to break their maiden, or don't immediately have that star quality then are also filed in the "run them until they win" ...

Re: Across the pond

I mean, who would beat Roaring Lion? He won the Coral Eclipse, the Juddmonte International, the Irish Champion Stakes, and the QEII on the trot. He didn't race against Enable or Cracksman, but Cracksman won the not-as-prestigious Prix Niel, then had to grind out the win in the Coronation Cup, then w...

Re: Mendelssohn

I mean, he had the most horses at the Breeders Cup, with what, 13 or 15? No wins.

I'm a big fan of his, but 2018 hasn't been a great year for Ballydoyle. The yard was effected by a virus over the summer and while some horses bounced back in the Fall, they still don't seem to have many superstars.

   that's a huge boost for No Nay Never, but he's had a great season, I'm happy to see him so successful, he was fun to follow when he was racing. Re: Matings 2018

Tachyon, who owns Arrow Stud? With only 1000 mares between 37 stallions, it doesn't seem like an entirely... commercial operation. There are only around 7000 foals born annually in Japan, so getting 1000 mares doesn't seem that bad to me. The Yoshida brothers' farms produce a 1/5 of the foals thems...

Coolmore's The Pentagon, who broke down during his preparations for the Melbourne Cup on Monday, was also euthanized.

Bolt d'Oro will stand for $25,000 at Spendthrift. Seems a little steep to me. https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/230616/grade-1-winner-bolt-doro-retired-to-spendthrift-farm Yeah, no thanks. A confusing and sometimes irritating career that ends in an equally irritating way. He'll still...

Re: The Melbourne Cup (G1)

Four horses injured, and one euthanized. That's a lot of carnage for one race. I thought our 20-horse Kentucky Derby was a demolition derby, but today's 'Cup made the Derby look like a walk in the park. Was the heavy track an issue? I'd expect Mind Your Biscuits may still show up. His trainer has been talking about it non stop for months. Though I guess him having to go into quarantine/ship to Japan may muddle things a bit.

Aga Khan Studs France Siyouni - €100,000 (up from €75,000) - Laurens is fantastic and all... but $114,000USD for a stallion with only two G1 winners from 5 crops of racing age? And Laurens was the only G1 winner he had this year. His other G1 winner, Erveyda, retired at the end of 2016. They're pro...
