Stellar Wind won the Clement L Hirsch at Del Mar by a head/neck over Beholder. Great race by two classy ladies! The victory also bumped Stellar Wind's earnings over $1m, congratulations to Curlin's newest millionaire. :D

Curlin had an absolutely monster weekend. Not only did Stellar Wind take the Hirsch, but Curalina dusted the competition by 9.25 lengths in the Shuvee, Connect won his sire's namesake race at Saratoga by a length, and Exaggerator took the muddy Haskell Invitational and atoned for the Belmont clunker.

Off The Tracks finished 3rd in the Gr.1 Test at Saratoga on 8/6. She ran a really good race, gave 6lbs to the winner/4lbs to the 2nd place finisher, and was beaten only a length after being right there for (what seemed to me) a really fast early pace.

Curalina finished 2nd to Cavorting in the Gr.1 Personal Ensign at Saratoga on 8/27.

Exaggerator continues to mystify both fans and bettors by failing to fire in the Travers. I have never known of any horse to have such an affinity (or as the case may be, dependence) for a wet track. Has anyone else???

Curlin's Approval won the 7f Added Elegance at Gulfstream on 8/28.

Curlin Colt Lands Austrian Derby
Unplaced in two starts in New York for owner John M.B. O’Connor and trainer Tom Albertrani in 2015, Medici (Curlin) had won two of five subsequent starts in Germany and was exiting a narrow runner-up effort at nearby Bratislava in Slovakia July 31. Forwardly placed after a smooth departure from gate two at this suburban Vienna oval, Medici prompted the pace into the stretch and successfully thwarted the late bid of Global Gentl (Ger) (Aerion {Ger} for the victory. Longshot Prairie Lukas (Ger) (Aqlaam {GB}) held for third ahead of Hungarian Oaks victress Matidia (Ire) (Manduro {Ger}), who raced close to the early pace, was shuffled back and re-engaged late to finish fourth.

GROSSER PREIS DER OESTERREICHISCHEN LOTTERIEN (FRANK STRONACH-AUSTRIAN DERBY) (NB), €15,000, Magna Racino, 9-4, 3yo, 2200mT, 2:15.90, gd.

2–Global Gentl (Ger), 128, c, 3, Aerion (Ger)–Global Beauty (GB), by Tiger Hill (Ire). (€16,000 RNA Ylg ‘14 BBASEP). O-Stall europeanstayers.com. €3,750.

Exaggerator will take on Nyquist again in the Pennsylvania Derby and will be joined by another Curlin son, Connect.

Nyquist and Exaggerator finished 6th and 7th, respectively, with CONNECT taking home the lions share of the purse with a half length victory over Gun Runner. Way to go, Connect!

Finished 5th of 8, beaten just shy of 7 lengths.

Finished 2nd, beaten half a length. Chart mentions that he had to steady leaving the gate and later in the race the jockey lost the whip, but he finished well and ran a great race regardless. (is it just me or does Laurel's turf course seem very narrow?)

Curalina has been retired.
Naohiro Hosoda with Shadai said Curalina was definitely purchased as a broodmare prospect and that her racing career is over.

Exaggerator has been retired to WinStar, it was announced before the Breeders Cup.

Stellar Wind finished 4th (I think) in the BC Distaff and was subsequently withdrawn from the Keeneland November Sale with the idea that she would race again next year -- YAY!!

Keen Ice finished 3rd in the BC Classic, no retirement announcement has been made so maybe we'll see him back on the track next year, too. :)

Connect has not raced since the PA Derby but has a nice steady string of workouts, the most recent being a 5f move in 1:00:09 at Belmont Park on 11/12. If his next start has been announced, I missed it.

Irish War Cry (2yo Colt) won a 6f MSW at Laurel on 11/11.

Bishop's Pond (4yo Filly) won a 1 3/8m AOC on the Turf at Aqueduct on 11/10.

Curlin's Vow (3yo Colt) won a 1m MSW at Churchill on 11/12.

I swear I saw something about Keen Ice being possibly aimed toward the Pegasus, but now I can't find the article.

Well, I suppose his connections can't be accused of being too conservative with him. Good luck with that.

Terra Promessa is entered in the She's All In Handicap at Remington Park on 12/11 along with another Curlin daughter, Curlish Figure. Don't know anything about Curlish Figure, but I'm happy to see Terra Promessa back in action. Clean trips and safe returns to both.

Terra Promessa tired to finish 7th, beaten 6 lengths. Have not seen the replay but the chart indicates that she got a little tired after stalking the pace.

Curlish Figure finished 9th, beaten 15 3/4 lengths.

Dabster finished 1st but was DQ'ed to 4th for causing interference late in the stretch. Drifted out, I think they made the right call. Encouraging debut though, hopefully next time out he stays in a straight line.

Bonita Bianca won the East View Stakes at Aqueduct on 12/30.

Congratulations to all their connections!

Ocean Knight WON by a neck. 2nd Place horse was Praetereo, a former stakes winner making his 63rd lifetime start who at 9 years old has been in and out of claiming ranks for the last few years.
