Don't be afraid to ask. I'm trying to use terminology that you would be familiar with (also eligible) but I will surely miss some things and I'm on here a lot when these races are on!

Depends whether you are looking for form or news Racing.com is good for most things and I know SkyRacingWorld.com (which provides your TVG coverage) has among other things a Australian Lingo section & if you are on twitter you can message me @nzraceresults :D

An Australasian racing thread! Woohoo! :D
Is the Ladbrokes Herbert Power Stakes (2,400 M) more likely to be a prep for the Melbourne Cup than the Ladbrokes Stakes (2,000 M)?
Bentbatl and Humidor stand out to me in the Ladbrokes, although I'd love to see the handsome The Cliffsofmoher do well.

Believe it or not both races are being used as prep for the big Cup races. Some trainers use the 2000m as a prep for 2400 next week and some will have them racing 2400 both weeks. Some racing on Sat are planning to go to the Caulfield Cup then the MelbCup, some are going to CaulCup only and some will go straight to the MelbCup. It is enough to make my head spin.

A lot also depends on where they stand in the order of entry for the MelbCup as of Tuesday there were 84 horses paid up for the MelbCup. (One New Zealand trainer with a good chance forgot to pay this latest fee and is out!) Many would have to win the Herbert Power to get entry into CaulCup and many would have to win CaulCup or another entry race to get entry into MelbCup. All this with less than a month to go!

Known as the Australian version of that Asmussen dude (before the haircut) there are fan pages dedicated to the hair of Ciaron Maher

TVG's Candace Hare is on with her Aussie cohort Jason, and says the Randwick track is a Heavy 9 ATM. I wonder if US Navy Flag will be a late scratch, as Aiden has been pretty clear about his colt not doing well on heavy ground. :?
