Now we just have to convince Coolmore that there is more money in tough iron legged geldings than in sexy future stud fees.

Godolphin seems pretty damn happy with the win by their Cross Counter, even though there will be no 'sexy future stud fees" coming from the Teofilo gelding. :P ;)
There may be more interest in Teofilo, so there could be some money return there. However, I'm not sure a win in the Melbourne Cup does a whole lot to boost a stallion's value. Maybe with some Euro breeders, but definitely not in the early-speed-crazy American market.

Their main market has been Europe for quite a while now.

Also, Godolphin has a big measure of one-up-manship in its makeup. See Aiden try, beat Aiden to it seems the word.

Going back into an earlier part of this thread, I have seen many photos of runners with their tongues tied out. Releasing the tongue is one of the first things a groom does after he gets to the horse.
Some horses have it tied inside the mouth, some hanging to one side outside the mouth. It stops them from working the tongue out from under the bit and helps with control.
