Wish I hadn't said anything. Be Bullish won easily, a new millionaire, and was claimed back by Jacobson for DAS.

Not happy about this. I was hoping all along that Repole would retire him. Best thing Jacobson could do is send him to Old Friends - and everybody wins.
Be Bullish has done enough and has earned his retirement. Just my humble opinion...

That sucks. I actually thought Repole claimed him to retire him. He claimed him last out (9/21) FROM Jacobson and DAS, who apparently just took him right back.

Don't mean to be repetitive, that's just so frustrating to hear.

He's a millionaire now. I wonder if Repole wanted to get him there and then retire? He may claim him back... Here's hoping...

From DRF Live yesterday:
David Grening, Aqueduct, Race 4 - DRF LIVE
Former owner claims, retires Socialsaul

The graded stakes-placed Socialsaul, who finished fourth in Friday’s fourth race at Aqueduct, was claimed for $10,000 by his original owner and will be retired.

Mike Samotowka, a surgeon based in Ohio, had trainer Mark Hennig claim Socialsaul for $10,000 on Friday. Hennig, who had purchased the horse on behalf of Samotowka for $35,000 at the 2010 Fasig Tipton Timonium 2-year-old-in-training sale, said the gelding would be shipped to In Front Training Center in Ghent, N.Y., on Saturday before a future home is found for the 6-year-old New York-bred gelding by Read the Footnotes.

“We had been talking about the horse; he had a lot of success with him and he just wanted to do the right thing by the horse and get him off the track before anything happened to him,” said Hennig, who did not train the horse during his racing career.

Samotowka had raced Socialsaul with trainer Gary Contessa for his first 20 starts. In that span, Socialsaul won the 2011 New York Derby at Finger Lakes and finished second in the Grade 3 Discovery at Aqueduct. He earned $157,295 for Samotowka before he was claimed for $62,500 by Drawing Away Stable and trainer David Jacobson in May 2013.

Socialsaul was claimed six subsequent times, most recently for $16,000 by Jacobson and Bruce Golden on Sept. 1 at Saratoga. Socialsaul raced eight times since Oct. 19, and Friday was his fourth start in 27 days. He had won five of his previous seven starts before Friday.

Socialsaul retires with a record of 11 wins, 8 seconds and 3 thirds from 40 starts. He earned $514,375.

“He was good to Mike and Mike wanted to be good to him,” Hennig said.
Jacobson claimed him 9/1, then ran him on 10/19, 10/31, 11/10, 11/19, 11/30, 12/7, 12/14, and 12/26. I guess his original owner just couldn't take it anymore. Hope he has a happy retirement :D

Be Bullish is entered at Aqueduct in an ALLOWANCE OPTIONAL CLAIMING $40,000 on 1/3/2015. Jacobson claimed him for $20,000 on 12/10/2014.

Ponyrcr made me aware of this

"I just got an entry notification for a horse I follow named Thabazimbi. He hasn't run since Oct. 2012. He shows two works, both a CD. One in Nov. and one in Dec. Both works were the slowest of the day. He's 10 years old. He's entered on Saturday at Turfway Park in the 9th race."

Yeah, this horse needs NOT to be running. Back in 2009, he was third in the Louisville and Bowling Green Handicaps.

Not sure if he belongs here or not. Fighting City Hall is 12 yrs old. He just ran dead last yesterday in a $5,000 claimer at Portland Meadows. He's a stakes placed winner of 15 races and has 105 starts. He won 5 starts back and won a total of 3 races in 2014. Maybe is an old warrior who loves his job, but I cringe every time I get an entry or result notice for him.

I'd expect Be Bullish to run back in Hollie Hughes on Jan. 18. He won that race last year and looked terrific today.

That would be three races in five and a half weeks...at age 10.

Just because Jacobson made a donation to Old Friends doesn't mean he actually wants to retire any horses there before they break.

Let's hope and pray he's really an iron horse. My concern is this doesn't seem to be one of those horses who take care of themselves. He tries to win his races. 12 starts last year, went 3-4-2 $180,320, and didn't race Oct-Nov with Bruce Levine/Repole. I'm getting to the point when I just wish he'd start losing and tilt the balance sheet.

I am not impressed.

Fortheloveof Anna is apparently entered at Portland on the 13th in a claimer for a tag of $2,500.

She hasn't raced since September & she hasn't got a published work on Equibase. I've followed this horse for the past 4 years and thought she may have been retired as she is now 7, apparently this isn't the case :(
