As she should...
Absolutely. Although I am a little vexed on her behalf they didn't use a picture of her.

I can't wait to watch this Friday night, but I do wish that Randwick had waited until after she retires to rename the Warwick Stakes after her.
Winx running in the Winx Stakes is kind of weird.

Alizee's out for 3 months due to bleeding after a gallop, and it looks like Kementari will be among her rivals Friday.

Weird? Nah she's just that good ;)
You can make all sorts of fun jokes about it too. 'Winx ran so fast they renamed the race before she finished the line!'
'They wanted to name a street after Winx, but were afraid it'd become a HIGH SPEED zone'.
(or maybe I need to get more sleep  )

They changed the Lady’s Secret to the Zenyatta before she retired. She was aiming to run in it so they changed it back to the Lady’s Secret for that year.

Winx takes aim at Black Cavier's record
Winx continues to set records in Australian racing.

The 7-year-old mare can win her 26th consecutive race in the Group 1 Winx Stakes at seven furlongs at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney on Saturday. A win in the $362,200 race, which was formerly known as the Warwick Stakes, would break Black Caviar’s record of consecutive wins by an Australian-based horse.

Winx tied Black Caviar’s record with a win by 3 3/4 lengths in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes in April.

One deep-pocketed bettor is convinced Winx will win Saturday. A record future-book bet of approximately $101,416 was placed at odds of 1-10 earlier this week on Winx, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph of Australia.

The Winx Stakes, which has a post time of 1 a.m. Eastern, or 10 p.m. Pacific on Friday, drew a field of 11. Winx, trained by Chris Waller, will break from post 5 and will be ridden by regular jockey Hugh Bowman.

Times are more convenient for us Left Coasters when TVG shows racing from Australia, Hong Kong or Japan, but we're SOL when British races show up at the crack of dawn for us. :P

Well, she did it. :D :D :D :D
The World's Best Racehorse just zoomed past the field on the outside, winning her 26th in a row, beating the great Black Caviar's record.
She makes you sweat for a moment, looking like she's left herself with too much to do, but then....whoosh.

What a run, how good is she? Mmm!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

she is just too much - she shows up every time - she turns on those afterburners without fail - man, she is really something else - what a champ - if you love this sport, you have to respect and admire her - no doubt - she truly embodies the 'heart of a champion'!!

Cherish the next few months, because IIRC, this will be her last season of racing. After she goes for her fourth Cox Plate this spring (our fall), I think she is going to be retired.
If she is retired at the end of October, I wonder if she will be bred this year?

I sure wish we had more horses who ran longer careers here in the States. So grateful for those such as Beholder and John Henry...mares and geldings.

Can you imagine having a horse like Winx who is now 7 years old, to care for, train, and have so much fun with! Love this interview with her trainer, Chris Waller. His emotion. His love for this wonderful mare!
