My Conquestadory won the Summer S. against the boys today, a full second faster than the Natalma S. A filly to watch, perhaps in the BC Juv Fillies Turf.

It was her first start, too.

That was a very impressive race, a filly winning a grade 2 against the boys in her first start. I'm definitely going to keep my eye on her.

Has anyone heard anything about Kobe's Back, who may have had the best debut of any juvenile on the West Coast in the Willard Proctor? Is he injured?

Get to answer my own question...per DRF's Dan Illman: 2yo KOBE'S BACK, debut winner in Proctor Memorial at BHP on 6/15 despite bleeding, worked 3F in 36.60 at SA. Missed time with sore knees.

Team Valor has purchased the 2yo colt Mexikoma (Birdstone) who broke his maiden impressively (14 3/4 lengths) at DEL on 9/12. Video here:http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/ ... er-12-2013

He does move well.

Just was about to post this. I saw his race and was very impressed with him and I'm glad to see other people agreed. I'm liking Birdstone's 2 yr old crop this year.

2yo Give No Quarter (Tiz Wonderful) -- MD-bred, Sagamore-owned, Motion-trained -- broke his maiden tonight at PID in his 2nd start . . . by 22 1/2 lengths. Video: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/ ... 7/2/race-2

Would love to see this owner/trainer combo get a really, really good one. Too soon to tell yet about GNQ, but I'll be watching him.

Could be a good story developing with 2yo Iowa-bred Boji Moon. The gelding is 3 for 3, including the $150K Kentucky Downs Juvenile -- his first turf start.

http://blogs.courier-journal.com/racing ... /18/13092/

Breeding: Cactus Ridge x Philadelphia Moon by Malibu Moon.

Don't know anything about CR's temperament, but Boji make take after his maternal grandpa:

“He’s been a work in progress. That’s why he was a gelding,” Richard said. “He was a little bit of a hoodlum as a yearling. They had to lasso him to get him in the trailer. He ran over Leroy and stomped him a couple of times. Leroy had to crawl out of the trailer. But he’s made a tremendous transformation in how much more he’s relaxed and how much more professional he is.”

Manhattan Johnnie races in the 2nd race Saturday at Belmont. He's been posting sharp works so I'm looking forward to seeing him run.

More info on Team Valor's purchase of Mexikoma. They are very high on him and will point him to the Nashua with an eye on the Breeders' Cup as well.
