It's so much fun watching the 2yo MSW races at Saratoga. Found another colt to watch, Code of Honor, who sped down the stretch and held off the favored MDO colt, Wild Medagliad'oro.
CoH is by Noble Mission, the full bro to Frankel. Not a sire I would have expected to produce a precocious dirt runner. :D

Game Winner won impressively first out today at DMR, pulling away in the stretch. He also has a very nice pedigree, by Candy Ride out of an AP Indy mare. Looks like one to watch going forward.

In the 3rd at Saratoga, a 5 1/2-furlong MSW for fillies on the turf, Concrete Rose (Twirling Candy) made a tremendous charge in the stretch to win going away, even though she didn't switch leads.
IMHO, Twirling Candy has become Candy Ride's best sire son, with winners on both dirt and grass.
TC had talent, but also the unfortunate tendency to make right turns at the wrong time. Bit of a headcase, but he's really redeemed himself in the shed. :P ;)

Baffert has another good two-year-old. :P
Del Mar: Baffert wins 9th maiden race of meet with Tale of the Union
Tale of the Union, a Union Rags colt purchased for $925,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midatlantic sale of 2-year-olds in-training in May, won his debut in a fine style in Sunday's fourth race.

From DRF...

DEL MAR, Calif. – Mother Mother will remain at Del Mar for the Grade 1 Debutante on Saturday and Chasing Yesterday will head to Saratoga for that day’s Grade 1 Spinaway as trainer Bob Baffert tries to find optimum spots for some of his 2-year-old fillies – without them having to face one another.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Mike Smith will ride Chasing Yesterday in the Spinaway. She is the morning line fave and will be facing Catherinethegreat a Casse trainee who broke her maiden by 10 1/4 lengths and is already a graded stakes winner after capturing the G3 Schuylerville surviving fractions of :21.78, :44.64 and a final time of 1:09.98 to deny the favourite, a Pletcher trainee also in this race.

Big news for Monday's Del Mar Futurity - owner Larry Best and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer will start Rowayton, and keep the SW Instagrand for G1 American Pharoah Stakes at Santa Anita on Sept. 29.

Sippican Harbor (Orb x Blossomed) upsets the Spinaway at 22-1, first graded stakes winner for Orb (I think).

Final odds were 16-1. I had her in my ex and tri but was so far off with the others. I couldn't ignore breaking her maiden by 17 lengths...
But... what the everloving frick was that ride by Mike Smith on Chasing Yesterday? What the hell happened there?

She was coming wide but, while still behind the leaders, she started flattening out. I have to wonder if the kickback affected her and some others. I know the Spa track was supposed to be fast, but most of the field came home covered in mud/dirt.
Is Saratoga one of those tracks where the kickback is always thick and punishing? :?
ETA: Congrats to Bellafina and Simon Callaghan, who won the Debutante at Del Mar in fine style. It may have only been a five-horse field, but both Brill and Mother Mother came into this race off impressive wins.
I wouldn't be surprised if Quality Road gets a little bump in his stud fee next year. ;)

It wasn't just that she went wide at the end but early in the race she suddenly started backing up, I was worried she'd gotten hurt - couldn't figure out if Mike Smith was taking her back on purpose or if she was having a negative reaction to the kickback. If so I'm a little puzzled by the decisions he made from that point on... ah well.

Well, they may have brains the size of a walnut, but they do have minds of their own! Must say Chasing Yesterday never looked comfortable.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

I'm going to say it was the kickback. She's just a baby and she's never been hit in the face with so much dirt. The fact that she tried to make a race of it for a little while speaks well to her heart.
I'd love to see what she can do on a different track.

Yeah. She didn't really look too comfy like you said and that was her first time getting dirt in her eyes.

And what Smith said post-race is right. She learned a lot today and it was only her second (?) race.
