10yo Challenger, a son of Chester House, will try for his 3rd consecutive win at Mountaineer on Monday (3/3/14).
In the money in all but 3 of his races in 2013.

10yo Hariolus was a winner for the 11th time, at Calder on February 23rd.

10yo Texas Holladay, raced 20 times in 2013 - started out well, but has been having a rough time of it lately - is
entered for his 2014 debut at Mountaineer this Sunday (3/3/14) in Race 9, along with 11yo Tony Lantana, 10yo Port Royal,
10yo Running Wish, along with some youth - all 6, 8 and 9yo's.

12yo Missing Sefa won the 1st at Turfway (Cl8000). She now has a record of 98-27-16-14, $334,816. Circled the (small) field 7-8 wide and was still full of run as she crossed under the wire. She has a lot of fans at Turfway.

Thanks for the report s_g! She had a rough trip last time out - came in 10th. Made amends today.

10yo Challenger, by Chester House, began his 2014 campaign with a win - his third consecutive, at Mountaineer
yesterday.

A gelding that may bear watching is 10yo Nite Fun, who raced only for the 11th time in his career today. For some reason, he was brought back in
2014 after having not raced since 2008. He was not doing well then and appears to be struggling in his comeback, finishing last or near to it in his
last several races - and came in last today at Sam Houston Park. I could be way off track here, but coming back at 10 and continuing to struggle
in low level claimers just does not seem worthwhile - unless, of course, he enjoys it - but I don't know...

Things like that do make you go "hmmm."

Sun City came in 5th of 6 today in for a $3k claiming price at Turf Paradise. Chart says "tired, stopped" and she looked the part beaten by 12 1/4 lengths. She's been racing steadily since 2007, and seems to be racing sound for all these years. I've really enjoyed watching her at Emerald, but not sure about this year. I can only hope they do the right thing for her. She's been quite the warrior with 109 starts and a record of 21-27-16 for earnings of $179,705.

That's awesome; what an honest mare.

Here's the chart for those interested:

Don't recall a mention of it here, but two well known old timers were both retired this past year and have found great homes to enjoy
their days.

12yo Wasserman was injured and retired in August. All time leading money earner at Emerald Downs, he left the track with a record
of 83 - 13-15-14 and $599,091.

12yo Towzee retired and adopted. 37 - 4-9-4 and $156,616.

Happy Retirement Boys...

I think we put it in a different thread. But this gives me a place to post this picture. Wasserman will always be a fan favorite in my house, as well as Jennifer and Marcus <smile>. Jennifer was Wasserman's regular rider and they obviously have a relationship. Marcus was at EMD for a fundraiser to support the LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY.

Marcus Trufant, former Seattle Seahawk and 11th overall in the 2003 NFL Draft, poses with EmD's all-time leading female rider, Jennifer Whitaker, and all-time leading earner and fan-favorite, Wasserman! (EMD Facebook)

That's a fairly impressive statistic. Swiss Ski is a racing machine - shows little sign of slowing down at 10!

And thanks, Sparrow Castle, for the picture of Wasserman!

10yo gelding and MSW Specialfite, by Fistfite, won his 2014 debut at Will Rogers Downs yesterday. Although lightly raced (he only
has 38 starts to his credit - with 16 wins), he has managed to earn better than a quarter million to date. Nice horse.

9yo Termsofengagement (Private Terms - Summers Sassy Gal by Black Tie Affair) won the St. Patricks Day Starter Handicap yesterday
at Charles Town in his 72nd career start defeating four 8yo's and Pure Serenity, a 5yo youngster, who couldn't keep up with the old guys. Rosie Napravnik
brought him to the winners circle several seasons ago in the Woodlawn Stakes at Pimlico (2008). Still likes to mix it up...

I really enjoy seeing how the older horses are doing. Thanks for starting this thread.

Drunken Love (ON), a 9 year-old gelding by Whiskey Wisdom won the 9th race at Gulfstream Park yesterday. It was his 22nd win.

Career Statistics:
•Starts: 53
•Firsts: 22
•Seconds: 13
•Thirds: 3
•Earnings: $723,190

He was the oldest horse in the race.

12yo Cat Man won his 23rd race today at Beulah Park, making his 112th career start for BP stalwart trainer
Charles Lawson. Mr. Lawson has a knack for getting the best out of older runners, and maybe just understands them a bit
better than most. Charles Lawson is 86 years old.

Cat Man now boasts a 112 - 23-25-21 record - with $330, 566 in earnings. Where the fans once fawned over the
great Catlaunch, they now have found another hero in Cat Man...

11yo Tejano Trouble had second thoughts about loading into the starting gate at Turf Paradise yesterday in race 7,
but after a rough start he decided to make the most of it and drew clear for his 17th career win - from 45 starts. Hit the board in
the last 15 of 17 races...
