Tiger struggles to 2 over in Phoenix

The difference between practice and the bright lights inside the ropes seemed miles apart for Tiger Woods on Thursday, who talked positively about his game heading into the Waste Management Phoenix Open but showed there is plenty of work ahead.

Woods, playing his first tournament of 2015 and just his second since August, got off to a rough start before salvaging a 2-over-par 73 at TPC Scottsdale by playing the last six holes in 3 under.

Tiger Woods is playing even worse today than he did yesterday. He's seven over par for today's round after eight holes. He's now nine over for the tournament. The cut line is projected to be even par. It sure looks like Tiger will be missing the cut.

Things certainly are not going well for Woods.

Tiger Suffers Injury, Withdraws From Farmers

For the third time in his past nine tournaments, Tiger Woods has withdrawn with a back injury.

Woods made it to the green on his 12th hole Thursday at Torrey Pines North Course before calling it quits in the first round of the Farmers Insurance Open.

It's time for Tiger to announce his first retirement.

Take the next 10 years off, get healthy, stay healthy, enjoy your new romance, reconnect with the kids etc.

Then at age 50 make the Senior Pro Golf Tour the #1 most watched where fans and players will all enjoy.

This story will have a happy ending!
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

No way Tiger retires without trying to get Jack's majors record.
Who knows maybe his back really is bothering him ;)

No doubt it, he was one of the best of his era.

Billy Casper Dies At Age 83

The accolades poured in overnight as word spread that one of golf's great champions had passed away, fitting for a man whose accomplishments seemed to only be appreciated the farther away we got from them.

Undoubtedly Billy Casper was overshadowed in the 1960s by the "Big Three" of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player.

Tiger: My game needs 'a lot of work'

Tiger Woods said his golf is not acceptable for the PGA Tour and he will not return until it is.

Woods shot a career-worst 82 to miss the cut in the Phoenix Open by 12 shots. He was playing poorly at Torrey Pines when he withdrew after 11 holes because of tightness in his back.

If you're going through hell, keep going.

Winston Churchill

I would think it would be better to hang with the rest of the tour. Then he
will realize he is just another player (albeit a great one)

Nicklaus: Tiger's issues are mental

World Golf Hall of Famer and 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus joined the chorus of people who think the majority of Tiger Woods' issues are of the mental variety.

"Tiger is struggling, I don't think there's any question about that," Nicklaus said Friday on the Golf Channel. "... I think he's struggling more between his ears than he is anyplace else.

Rory McIlroy misses Honda cut

Rory McIlroy's 2015 U.S. debut ended quickly at the Honda Classic, where he missed the cut after shooting rounds of 73-74 at PGA National.

McIlroy's total of 7 over par was well outside the 36-hole cut line of 4 over, which was determined Saturday due to weather delays.

Johnson Rallies For First Win Since Return

The six-month break from the game raised more questions about Dustin Johnson's personal life than his golf. He said it gave him time to work on a little of each, and he delivered answers to both Sunday at the Cadillac Championship.

Johnson made up a five-shot deficit on J.B. Holmes and had a one-shot lead as he stood on the 18th tee at Trump National Doral, among the most daunting shots in golf. He produced his best drive all week, a monster shot that cleared the corner of the water and sent him to a routine par and a victory that never felt better.

Daly: PGA Drug Testing Is "A Big Joke"

John Daly: Drug testing not random

John Daly railed against the PGA Tour's drug testing Tuesday night, calling it "a big joke."

His rant began when he was asked on SiriusXM's "Hit It Hard with John Daly" whether drug testing on the PGA Tour was random.

"Not at all," Daly told host Patrick Meagher. "I'm gonna play at 1:50 on Friday, so they're [going to] get me about 6:52, 7 o'clock."

Brennan: Tiger Woods needs to play Masters next week

Play, Tiger, play.

Play the Masters next week.

Play it even if you're not sure that you've completely figured out your short game. We've already seen you at your worst this year, chunking and skulling the ball over and around the greens at Phoenix and Torrey Pines, and we still want to see you try again.

Who has a green jacket in his future?

I put on my voodoo witch doctor outfit from New Orleans the other day to reminisce about the future. As soon as the headdress was on nice and snug, I went into a trance ... seeing future golfers winning their first green jackets. Either that, or I had passed out from incense and tightness of the wig.

Hope tiger makes the cut :D . Golf sometimes you can find something wrong
with your game and make big improvements, but this is the Masters.
You had better come prepared.
I'm going to cheer for Billy Horschel

I'm glad he playing, it adds interest to the game. But I'm not a fan of his so I hope he doesn't win.
