I am vice president of our local NAMI (National Alliance On Mental Illness) chapter and we had our largest annual fundraiser last night. It was a First Friday silent auction event and we had at least 83 bidders (we assigned a number to each person that came) and we netted $5,555.61. We really needed this boost in our budget because we can't charge for any of our services and rely on donations and fundraisers like this!

I am so happy

Football fever has struck again.
The family that owns the child nursery across the street are absolutely rabid Bucs fans. Ten thirty AM and they are already boom boxing the neighborhood, even on an off day for the Bucs. By game time they are usually hanging from the ceiling fans.
Luckily the evil dispositioned next door neighbor of theirs is also so much of a football fan she already has her car painted Bucs colors. When the Bucs wore orange she was dreadful. She is an aged redhead. Her hair was Bucs colors.
My ceiling is coming loose. They tool up the car they use for game day and drive around removing ceiling tiles. Mines needs re doing anyway.
Luckily, they do not seem to have customers today, or there would be a bunch of kids with bad hearing.

Dustin was actually nice in explaining something in a thread.

Anyone need a trip around the world :?:
For some reason Intrav wants me. It is only $99,950 double occupancy. I am sure you all want one. At that price I guess you get at least a massage.
I have 2 brochures and have no clue why.

Gotta win at least several Pick Sixes for that.

Haha awwww man, you're right! Total missed opportunity. The only solution is for us to start buying/ naming racehorses, and let the nerdiness spread...

That is truly the only option.

In more nerdiness news, Wednesday I get to go take my first sample. Bucket, bags, etc. obtained, GPS unit tested and working, topomap program waiting to calculate the slope of the area when I get back (after marking it in the GPS). Now I just need to drive around by the river (coincidentally, an hour and a half away, back where I did my undergrad) until I find a slope where chert has tumbled down and fractured naturally.

AND THEN HOURS AND HOURS OF ANALYZING. 8-) All of our emoticons look like aliens.

Expedia screwed up my Derby hotel reservations earlier this year, so they gave me a nice little travel voucher. I just booked a 4-star hotel for the Keeneland/F-T auction weekend in Lexington for about $150 total for three nights :D

It's on the other side of the highway from F-T, so I can stumble half-frozen to my car after it's over Monday night and drive 3 minutes to my pillow-top bed. Wooo!

Productive day albeit not very exciting -

Took the 3 dogs to the vet for their bordatella shot.
Dropped off clothes at the cleaner
Got some packages shipped off at the post office
Grocery shopped
Filled up at the gas station
stopped and had lunch
Picked up Rx's at the drug store

all in one trip.

Based on the limited number of practice problems I've done, they're predicting my math score for the GRE to be average/slightly above average. WHICH MEANS I CAN IMPROVE.

I've been stressing so much over this math part and was terrified to even get it, in fear of it being like 20th percentile area. Even if average is not what I'm aiming for and want higher (I'm not applying to Harvard, so that's even better), the thing is I am not totally inept and know that by studying endlessly I can defeat my irrational fear of math. I've seriously been so happy all day over it.

You're clearly in better shape than I am, Gunga Din. I did about half that, and after a very late lunch/early supper am ready to throw in the towel.

Window shopping with my imaginary lottery winnings, photographing, and our bloodstock guy is looking for mares for a client with money so I'm totally tagging along at Keeneland :D

Plus, a 2 yr old I own an interest in is at the farm in Paris, and I want to see her before she ships to Fair Hill. I can't wait for November!
