Thanks for the update, parakeet. I was wondering about the outcome. Saw the race today and though I noticed the first horse go bad, never saw the second, but the track announcer said he fell. I assumed the worse, but had hoped for the best. So sad.

Is there an article about this? I can't find it anywhere although multiple outlets report that he had a case of mild laminitis back in October. I started looking because I confused him with Grand Reward at first and thought GR had died.
I don't know that I've seen an article, but it was all over Twitter. There may be a Tweet somewhere with an article link, not sure who first announced it :(

I posted about it in a thread about the BC, bottom of the page: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4318&start=250

I don't remember an article about it, but it might have been an add-on to another article I read. It made me so sad that this mighty fine horse couldn't seem to catch a break. It's not like me not to post sources about things like this but you're right, Blind Lucky, it was all over Twitter at the time. I was on my Tablet a lot around the time of the BC, which takes more time to copy/paste things.

laminitis claims another life...this time Grand Tito's one. RIP.

Thanks guys. I wasn't implying that you or PP were posting false info; just curious about the source since I couldn't find anything (not surprising now since I am not on Twitter).

6yo g Cole's Magic Vow was "pulled up, euthanized" in Race 4 at Delta Downs yesterday (12/1/16).

(Private Vow - Southern Duchess, by Concerto), 30 - 11-6-4, $228,163. These final stats are the only epitaphs for most of these blue collar horses. RIP...

Finally, Paulick ran a story.

Stradivari, After Complications While Recovering From Surgery, Euthanized
“Stradivari initially came through his surgery well but began to experience complications including an infection to his sesamoid,” said Pletcher. “Every effort was made to save him by the staff at Rood and Riddle but unfortunately he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.”

I'm probably not the only one, but after I saw the report here I sent Ray Paulick a message, asking what happened.

Glad you did and glad Paulick acted on it. For some reason, it seems to help to have a death acknowledged.
