Stakes winner Omega Star turned up at a low-end auction recently. He raced against Goldencents in the San Felipe.

Auction Horses Rescue pulled him.

Akindale posted some pics of him in February on Facebook. He was at their South Carolina location then.

Dang, I hope Omega Star's former connections donate too.

If only all could be this lucky.

Brass Hat to Compete at KY Horse Park Show
Fans of grade I winner Brass Hat will have a chance to see the popular gelding in action when the Thoroughbred Horse Show Association hosts its fifth annual show on May 8 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

Brass Hat, now 15, will be ridden by 12-year-old Jett Bradley. She is the daughter of William "Buff" Bradley, who trained the horse in his racing days, and the granddaughter of Fred Bradley, who owned and bred the gelding.

A really great video about Godolphin's rehoming/retraining team, with lovely footage of African Story and Prince Bishop turned out together, among others :D

The video is on this page:

Pennmarydel in retirement.

Tamarack Hill Farm added 7 new photos.
It isn't every day that a full brother of Barbaro comes strolling into your yard---
This is Pennmarydel, 6 years, by Dynaformer X La Ville Rouge, by Carson City.
Allie Conrad has him, from his owner/breeder Mrs Roy Jackson, after he was less than stellar on the track.
A big, strapping, handsome boy, he hasn't even started to fully grow into himself yet.

This is such a good story, I may have posted it before:
Smarty Jones son retires in a full-circle moment
A stakes-winning son of Smarty Jones was retired to former Three Chimneys communications director Jen Roytz this winter after a lengthy and successful racing career.

In a development that brought her history with Smarty Jones and his son full circle, Roytz went from her earlier days writing about the talented 9-year-old gelding offspring of Smarty Jones, to owning him outright as of February.

Glad to see the old boy is still around....I was a big fan of him during his racing days. Winner of the first Derby at Remington Park and second to Easy Goer in the Travers.

Time Passages: Champion, Dual Classic Winner Hansel Enjoying Life At Lazy Lane Farm
When you drive up to Hansel's private pasture here at Lazy Lane Farm, you can see his proud head over the rise of a lush green hill. His ears are pricked as he trots toward the black board fence and the people awaiting him.

At 28, Hansel looks fabulous.

Twenty-five years ago, when Hansel won the 1991 Preakness Stakes (G1), he was a vibrant, fearsome 3-year-old. He stood 16-hands, approximately 5-foot-4, to the top of his withers. Horsemen and race fans couldn't keep their eyes off his well-defined frame.

Today, not much has changed. The bay stallion, who lives about 120 miles from Pimlico Race Course, is still solid, bold and beautiful.

Don't think this Paulick Report list has been shown before. Interesting to see what last years runners are doing now.

On a Ride On Curlin side note, he had a slight injury so he was on stall rest at Churchill Downs after his last race at Keeneland. They were walking him daily, but the farm will be so much better for him--mentally, too!

During Derby week, we talked to his exercise rider a bit. She said that some (brave? stupid? drunk?) woman sneaked into Ride On Curlin's stall, took off all her clothes, and got her picture taken with him completely nude. She's lucky that she left with all her body parts intact

This is where he is retiring to, with Csaba, Treasure Beach, etc. Beautiful place! http://www.pleasantacresstallions.com/

A day in the life: Better Talk Now
When Breeders’ Cup champion Better Talk Now ended his racing career at age 10 in 2009, owner Brent Johnson never wavered on how the earner of $4,356,664 would spend his retirement. “Blackie” was, is and always will be a Fair Hill horse.

That decision certainly set well with everyone here at Herringswell. After seven seasons on the racetrack – which took him all over North America as well as Japan and Dubai – none of us could imagine daily life in the barn without him.

Now 17, Blackie’s best mate is Graham’s first stakes winner, 28-year-old Gala Spinaway. The two geldings spend their days in a large paddock built specifically for them at our Parlo IV barn. At night they’re brought in to stalls bedded knee-deep in straw. It’s a sweet routine for a couple of old guys.
