Does anyone know where he ended up?

There was never an announcement. I had gone to the owners Facebook page earlier this year and asked, they deleted my question. I just looked him up on the Jockey Club site and he has a death report for 2016. :(

Sad. And sadder yet the way it was handled.

I think it just wasn't really handled publicly, is all. Apparently he was euthanized after a bout with laminitis in July. I think he was retired with an injury, wasn't he?

Someone asked the owners about his death and got this back:
He lost a tough bout with laminitis. He gave us a great thrill and we miss him dearly
There was a note on Twitter from July 26:

Glad to hear that it was posted somewhere at the time. RIP Materiality.

Thanks, everyone for helping me find out. How sad. :( I was afraid of something like this. Sigh... such powerful, fragile creatures.

Agree. Sad that one of the major publications didn't catch it back then. But I guess it doesn't really change anything.

Alas, it only serves to underline the general public's opinion of racing, which is already pretty low.

There is a BH article up now. However, the article states he died in September, when the owner clearly tweeted in July about his death. Plus, I find it odd that the people interviewed for the article seemed very evasive. Not that they owe anyone any explanation, but it is all so odd. Doesn't change that Materiality is dead... RIP pretty boy.

The article does say that Materiality was euthanized July 26, but that the breeder only found out in September.

They changed the article in the past 5 minutes then, because it didn't say that earlier.

The Blood Horse columnist said in a comment that they couldn't get a statement from the owners or Pletcher.

Paulick Report says he was battling laminitis for a year and was owned by the insurance company at the time of his death.

Yes, they changed it, it originally said "about 10 days ago" or sometime in September.
