2019 Kentucky derby prep races, the history of each race.
The first prep race for the 2018 Kentucky derby was the 2017 Iroquois Stakes at Churchill downs which ran in September. This race before 2013 was run in November before the breeder cup and after it was moved to September has become a prep race for the breeder cup. Some of the winner you might know Tiz wonderful, Court Vision and Harlan’s Holiday one horse ran second in the 2017 Kentucky Derby Lookin At Lee. If a horse wins this race, win the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile and comes back in 8 ½ months to win the Kentucky Derby he would be the best Derby horse of all time because he would own Churchill.
The race facts are the age of the horse is 2-year-old, the distance is 1 1/16 mile on dirt and it is two turns race. This is the first point race 10-4-2-1 that is 10 to win, 4 to place 2 for 3rd and 1 for 4th.
I don’t look for my derby horse till January the reason being that not all two year when they turn 3 run as well as they did as a two-year-old.

sept. 15 2018 race 10 Churchill

Almost peed myself with excitement... he went off at 17-1
Very happy for Cairo Prince to get his first graded stakes winner... in a KY Derby prep no less. Watched the replay and thought it was an impressive move for a 2 year old, trapped at the rail for most of the stretch, then angled out and burst forward. Also found the jockey's comments interesting about his movement
