    I don't know for sure, but wouldn't one reason be so that prospective owners, or even current owners, can research a trainer's history if they are thinking of using him ( or her ) to train their horses?

    Maybe now people can be accurate when reporting these sort of things, too. I personally find information like this a little more tricky to find.

    Yep. Plus, jurisdictions in which a trainer is seeking a license for the first time will have a database to check fairly quickly

    You might care if you are looking at trainers for your horses. Lots of tacky fines may mean nothing or it may be a window into serious disorganization.
