To 2005 sounds more than reasonable.

    I find this very interesting.

I don't know for sure, but wouldn't one reason be so that prospective owners, or even current owners, can research a trainer's history if they are thinking of using him ( or her ) to train their horses?

Maybe now people can be accurate when reporting these sort of things, too. I personally find information like this a little more tricky to find.

    Agreed.

However, that will also require reporters to use it.

Yep. Plus, jurisdictions in which a trainer is seeking a license for the first time will have a database to check fairly quickly

Re: JC launches searchable database of regulatory actions against trainers

I have to say, some of these rulings are amusing.
"Bringing the wrong horse to the paddock"
"Refusing to allow his horse to be taken off the racetrack after it was scratched by the State Veterinarian"
"Failing to have his horse tattooed"
"Authorizing a workout while the horse ambulance was on the race track"
"Use of profane, abusive, insulting language to a member of the commission staff or a racing official"
"Issuing worthless checks to the Pennslyvania State Horseracing Commission"
    "Being obnoxious"
"found to exceed 10.0 micrograms of phenylbutazone per millileter"

Also the ruling for Patrick Biancone on June 22, 2007 is...interesting.

There have been those kinds of rulings for as long as I can remember. There are fines "for smoking in the shed row", "entering the wrong horse", "not having papers in the office", and the one where someone has gone to the stewards because they owe them money so until the debt is paid, they can't enter a horse.

This info has been available on that other site .. what is it .. ARCI or RCI or something like that. I was just looking at that site a week or so ago. But that includes all racing, I think.

I assume if an active trainer is not listed that it means there are no positives or rulings in the timeframe?

You might care if you are looking at trainers for your horses. Lots of tacky fines may mean nothing or it may be a window into serious disorganization.

Here's another one, but this isn't the one I was looking at recently ... which was much easier to read.

And listening to some big out a' town jasper, hearing him tell about horse-race gamblin'.
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on a horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch?
Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!

Juan Carlos Guerrero. Specifically, it was "being obnoxious (altercation)".

The trainer who used profane, insulting, abusive language with a racing official was a one Stephen A. Asmussen. It was at Churchill Downs the Thursday morning before the 2008 Kentucky Derby...

This info used to run in the Daily Racing Form under "Official Rulings," and jockeys, exercise riders, grooms, hot walkers and anyone else working on the backside used to be included -- complete with date of birth and Social Security numbers! Ah, those innocent pre-Internet, pre-identity theft days!

I remember that. That was a long time ago. A different time. That's for sure.

Not so long ago. I remember rulings being printed in the mid-90s. No SSN or DOBs, though.

A trainer friend of mine has a framed copy of his listing for "conduct unbecoming in the winners' circle." Have never quite gotten the guts to ask what all THAT was about.

    Shades of Larry Jones.

In the old days, one would say "shame on Steve." Under current management, you kind of have to tip your hat to him.

Found one that was for a parking violation, apparently not in the trainer's "approved" site, he/she was fined a bank busting $10.
