Good luck to Dogwood. I think this is their best shot at a Derby win in years. This horse has Wood Memorial all over him.
AP Indy out of Storm Cat Mare is not too shabby.
I have to think somebody will step up and buy this horse at a big profit for Dogwood.
He isn't even a threat for a hypothetical Montana Derby.

Did this horse win today? Where was it at? Says you, Thin Air! I will take any Indy news since his time is running out for a Derby winner. The only one I thought had a chance was Take Charge Indy since Stephanoatsee is out already(and I don't think Take Charge Indy is that good). The more the merrier.

That's funny. I assume those "contenders" didn't fall in the half of the field that was available to be claimed?

OK, just watched the replay. Not impressed(an I am a very biased Indy fan). We won't hear from this horse during the TC. He might someday win a weak G3.

Not sure how you can make that statement until he actually runs in a Stake race which he will at the Gotham. ALpha's last 1mile 70 yards winning time was 1:42:83 and Raconteur's was 1:42:87. Same track and same condition. Not much difference and if you watched the replay the jockey did not drive Raconteur through the finish. Would you consider Alpha a Triple Crown horse? Also, Indy horses usually mature later and Raconteur is following that script.

" Plus, Raconteur had a dream trip behind a heavily contested pace, while Alpha was pushed four wide on the first turn, was forced to be too close to a moderate pace, and moved three wide on the second turn. To compare these two horses in a positive manner is, to be nice, a big mistake.
I am very familiar with the Indys. lol. Like I stated, I am a hug Indy fan. Alpha is not an Indy, he's a Bernardini(I am sure you know that) meaning, although a son of a son of Indy, it's not the same. I want to see how Alpha runs in the Wood before I consider him a legit contender(legit, as in a horse I would wager on in the Derby). Raconteur looked too pressed to win vs these horses and he didn't gallop out strongly whereas Alpha looked very strong finishing to me(the gallop out was very strong). I really haven't picked a horse for the race yet. So far Algorithms has impressed me the most but I still have to see him run further to finalize my thoughts on him.

There have been only four quality A.P. Indy/Storm Cat SWs, two in graded stakes, none G1, none winning more than one stakes race and none winning beyond nine furlongs. Three are fillies and the colt won only at age two. He has sired more SWs from mares by Mr. Prospector, Deputy Minister, Seeking the Gold, Alydar, Quiet American, Lyphard, Nureyev, Northern Dancer, Sadler's Wells, Lord at War and Forty Niner. Considering he has over 1100 foals, I would say this is not one of his stronger crosses.

Raconteur is a legitimate Derby threat. The only problem is that Derby will likely be run in Iowa or West Virginia. And he'd be a threat to finish 5th in either of those.

Ricks Natural Star ran in the BC Turf. I guess, in your opinion, that makes him a top horse.
