The stallion register is down again today for the third Sunday in a row, so I guess I'm seeing a pattern. I just don't understand why.

What is up with them??? If they have to update stats, couldnt they do it at midnight?
Maybe they are doing it by hand, one horse at a time...wouldnt be surprised.
This has been happening more and more, don't know what to say.

Thoro Times is having issues with their stallion info, too, no doubt due to the fact they've laid a lot of people off. The Pennsylvania stallion supplement I got in the mail had more than 50 errors ... at least, I counted that many before I quit in disgust.

I used to subscribe to the BH for almost 30 years. Thats right, 30 years. I miss it so much but am not willing to spend $200.00 CDN for something so small and sad. I miss the big HUGE Stallion Registers so much
I'd been a subscriber since the early 90's - until this past year, that is. I was due to renew June of last year, but I didn't. However, I kept getting incentive e-mails and promotions for renewal in the mail. One was for $52 for a year's subscription (including the stallion register and other catalogs). I passed on it. However, I got an offer a little over a month ago - 20 issues for $19.95. So, I took it. It covered the TC time period so that was my incentive to take the offer. If they offer me the same deal again when the 20 issues are up, I'll probably renew. The magazine is not as "thin" as it was last year.

TT was the first publication to report that he would permantely stand in Argentina.(Just as an interesting sideline, I was at Ghost Ridge just after this broke, and they were even shocked and found out by TT). BH may have had it later on, not sure it they did or not without searching. As far as the BH list with the Florida info- I think that they were trying to work out some kind of deal and it fell thru. I know that with all the layoffs at the publications, it can be tough on them. All print magazines are feeling it now, as it goes more and more digital, with fewer folks.

Call me old fashioned but I would much rather have a real magazine in my hand to read through than some silly IPad or Kindle. I just don't care much for digital media.
Me, too. Maybe someday out of necessity I might change my mind or be forced to. But, for now, I like the feel of a book in my hands. However, I can certainly understand how Kindle is a God send to college students and people who have to have reference material at their disposal on a moment's notice.

I guess I like the digital stallion issue, and even follow a lot of horse folks on twitter, because theres so much information that is time sensitive. I like finding out things now, not 20 days after it happens in a magazine.
Another Sunday, another day the Blood Horse stallion register is down. The day after a big racing day, with stallion statistics updated, and they shut down.
No wonder they are losing readers. Stupid.
I am 29, I remember working my but off to get money to subscribed to the Blood Horse and TT, I would POUR over the issues, the pictures, the information, it was so awesome this country kid from central IL to have inside information for the sport i was so crazy about. I haven't subscribed to either sense 2008. And I hate that! But reasons being by the time I received my magazine the information was already to old and the pics were the same they used on the website, and plus the stallion and breeding information was SUCKING! I wanted more information on what mares were doing, pictures of those great race mares and producers. I just think there is a market being missed, sure cover racing racing racing, but there needs to be more coverage on the breeders and other stuff. But like i said its been 4 years sense I have seen a blood horse magazine! Its so hard to think about spending money on out of date material. Maybe Blood Horse should consider doing a stallion register ever 6 months. the material would still be out of date but not so much.
As for a younger member I think Digital media sucks, I don't want to read a magazine on my computer or ipad etc.. I think magazines need to focus on making their magazine the best they can without stretching themselves to thin with trying to cover all the bases digital and other apps.
But I agree I stopped subscribing to the bloodhorse because it was sucking majorly! lol
