    My little Garden Helper

I did a lot of yardwork today and I got befriended by a blue jay who evidently believed that anyone who would spend a lovely Saturday mucking around with weeds and getting dirty has got to be a soft touch for a begging bird. Finally he persuaded me to take a break and get the camera.

I'm wanting to say that's a Scrub Jay of some sort (Florida, Western, Island). Still a blue Jay, but not technically THE Blue Jay.

I already got a PM slapping my wrist about it :cheesy:

In my defense, in California, when you are talking generally to nonbirders, call this a Blue Jay and they will know immediately what you are talking about and its not the one with the crest and the blue and white on it that I knew growing up in New England. Not everyone is bicoastal you know

Pronzini's bird is a Western Scrub Jay. The only scrub jay we get in Southern California. Unless of course you are on Santa Cruz Island then it would be an Island Scrub Jay

I was clicking on the links and noticed the photo of the Island Scrub Jay was taken by a birder friend of mine, Christopher Taylor. That's cool. :cheesy:

I wasn't sure where exactly she lived, hence why I posted all 3.

And I totally understand Pronzini about calling it a blue jay.
