Of all the rotten luck, champion Orfevre has to break from the widest gate.
Especially after Orfevre's wildest ride in the Hanshin Daishoten a month ago, this is going to be the most-watched race.

    Orfevre wears ear muffs today.
I hope he doesn't dislike it.

    Re: The Tenno Sho (Spring)(G1)

I have to believe that Orfevre had suffered a great hurt mentally due to his wild run in his last time out.
He was calm and handy. But he seems to have lost his fighting spirit completely.
Sadly, he has become an ordinary horse.
It's a big loss to everyone.

I tried to stay awake, but couldn't. Sorry to hear it was not good for Orfevre.

    Re: The Tenno Sho (Spring)(G1)

It's sad. He is not the same.
I hope he will regain his spirit.
He is still a champion in my heart.

    Re: The Tenno Sho (Spring)(G1)

I really think it was the headgear they used on him. I hope he gets to run with blinkers but no earmuffs next time. I say he returns to form after that. I haven't given up on him. He's just too special a horse...plus we share the same birthday!

    Re: The Tenno Sho (Spring)(G1)

I haven't given up on him either. And i believe returning to a 10f, maybe 12f race with a lot of pace right after the start would suit him better.

Jaguar Mail had a broken bone. (it will take at least 3 months for recovery)
Namura Crescent and Gustave Cry also suffered slight injuries.

    Re: The Tenno Sho (Spring)(G1)

tachyon I know you mentioned before that part of the reason he had to wear the blinkers was due to the trial he had to earlier last month. Would your guys stewards let him retry without the blinkers if the connections so desired outside of the race a la like what they did last month?
"You can debate it until the cows come home, but a New-Mexico bred mare has just done the improbable," Track announcer concerning Pepper's Pride breaking the 16-win streak record.

Yes, StarGirl, Tenno Sho Spring was his first start since he had passed re-evaluation for apptitude. Therefore he was required to use the same equipment as he had used at the the time of re-evalution. ----> he was required to wear ear-muffs in the Tenno Sho Spring.

For his next time out, I suspect that JRA stewards would let him race without ear-muffs if his connections so desired, although I can't be 100% sure about it.
He didn't behave badly in the Tenno Sho Spring at least. He might not be ''under stewards special surveillance'' any more.

(As Cesario said), I hope that he will race without ear-muffs next time out.
Also I hope that he will get a new rider....wondering if the relationship of trust between Orfevre and Ikezoe (jockey) had already been broken.
His trainer's wisdom and true value are to be tested.
