So you have to pay close attention, but if you go back to the post about Baffert rejecting the bounce theory they give examples of how, in the past, he has gotten gut efforts before the Derby and his horses didn't bounce. The only problem with that is Baffert has said he used steroids to keep horses who had given hard efforts back on the track more quickly. But I do like your play on the word hayday.
Was that Lucky bouncing in the Preakness or off the non effort due to rail bash in the SA Derby? Or did you think POTN bounced into 2nd place to the 50-1 long shot in the slop in 09?
The white haired dude seems to adjust well. His greatest gift as a horseman. And thank you.
The article mentioned earlier in this thread . . . http://www.drf.com/news/beyer-baffer...r-buck-history . . . makes the case otherwise.
It talks about how Baffert trains his horses harder than many others. For instance, in the article BB says Bodemeister had a foundation of 26 workouts before he ever started.
"Sinclair Lewis aptly predicted in It Can't Happen Here that if fascism came to America it would come wrapped in the flag and whistling The Star Spangled Banner." ~Harrison Evans Salisbury
He does adjust very well. He's an excellent trainer, arguably the best in the Derby. However he's been forthright about how in the past he has used steroids to help his horses recover more quickly off a gut effort. As far as POTN or lucky bouncing? I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not commenting on their efforts. Nor am I saying bode will bounce because he can't get steroids. What I'm saying is that if you use an example from the steroid era its important to remember that we're in a different era. You can dismiss the distinction or use it. It's not meant to impugn the white haired man.
Go ahead TOSS HIM - DO NOT BET BODE - and thanks!
May they run with the wind

Horse will hit the board, just like Curlin, but he won't be able to beat a horse like Creative Cause or Gemologist.
Bodemeister aka "I have NEVER won a race without the lead" is going to get fried and hand on for a piece on class, but a couple good ones will run right by him.
You know this? Have facts to back you up? I do.
Oh, learn the difference between a work and a gallop. LOL
This trainer walks his horses two days after a work, and he also puts a "stiff effort" in them the day before the race. This horse will get a stiff effort friday morning.
From DRF:
Asked if Bode, 7, was fired up to see his namesake run, Baffert said, “Fired up is an understatement.”
“It’s a dream come true,” he said, “if we get lucky.”
Zayat in PR interview about changing Bode's name to that after he was already renamed Bradelberry after Brad Weisbord (Baffert hated the name and asked that it be changed, but not to name him after his son.)
"Brad is a good guy and I wanted to honor him. After he left there were no hard feelings at all. When Brad called Bob about it, Bob told him the horse got very fast after they changed the name!"
http://www.paulickreport.com/feature...r-ahmed-zayat/
He named him for Brad (the 2nd name for the horse) when Brad still worked for him. If Bob's main point is he didn't want him named after someone, he must have been more than pissed when Zayat renamed him (for a 3rd time) after his son, Bode.
When I was touting this horse back in Feb, and breathing thin air over it, I wondered why Bob didn't tout him more, and I'm convinced it wasn't just the immature colt not showing him all his talent, but not wanting to get his son's hopes up or jinx him.

I think it's pretty definite he will be retired after his three-year-old season because Better Than Honor will be bred to him once he's done racing and now that interest in him has been sold. =(. Shame. I wish horses would race more these days.
