How much does this help his career? He's been pretty spotty.

Distorted Humor is a top sire...so Flower Alley should get some decent PR. Flower Allley was a very good race horse. Fast but not really a 1 1/4 mile horse who ran well in the TC races. Won Travers and earned 2.5M on track.
Flower Alley might be a "bargain" compared to the 150k stud fee of his sire.
He is already on the board with a Derby winner.![]()
I'd guess he goes to 15k next year or knowing 3C's they try on 20k and then silently discount it. One hit wonders don't help unfashionable sires that much. But FA is BY Distorted Humor.
I would still send a mare to Leroidesanimaux before I would send one to Flower Alley, and I am in KY.![]()
Flower Alley is a fairly young sire. I think his first crop consists of 4 year olds. Only approx 65 total runners so far total. He doesn't have a large volume of foals like some of the other new stallions.
I dont know where you pulled that number from. He's had 120 starters, 69 winners.
4 crops
267 foals
3 crops of racing age
203 foals of racing age
So suppose you were Harvey Clarke and bought I'll Have Another's dam for $80,000 as a two year old, raced her (1 start, 1 win late in her 3yo year, earnings $25,800), paid $25,000 to breed her to Flower Alley and sold the subsequent Kentucky Derby winner as a yearling for $11,000 (for a net loss of mucho mucho money). Would you now breed the mare back to Flower Alley?
I'm thinking I'd probably head to Distorted Humor.
She was bred last year to Midnight Lute. I certainly hope they do better by her this year. Distorted Humor is a great idea!
Don't forget that his best runner from his oldest crop was privately purchased and retired shortly after running poorly in the Kentucky Oaks last year. Lilacs and Lace wasn't really that consistent but she was a G1SW.
I didnt forget, I thought she had been injured.
She wasn't injured, the new owner wanted her retired and bred.
Distorted Humor's stud fee is what...150kThis breeder didn't appear to be "big time KY breeder". Can he finance the stud fee if he doesnt happen to have 150k in his "checking account"?
Better idea poster above...sell the mare and next owner can breed mare to big time sire like DH.
Lilacs and Lace ran a troubled trip in the Oaks. Purchased and sent to Japan to be bred last year.
As for 3 Chims advertising - they haven't posted a thing yet on their website as of Sun 5pm. can you blame them for striking while the fire is hot?
T Times ad had this
DISTORTED HUMOR’SONLY SON TO SIRE A G1 SW
Referring to the filly. Now the only DH with 2 G1SW. The 'fourth year' numbers include his crop of 2yos, probably none have run yet. Lot's of breeders love the 'big horse' angle where the overall numbers are moderate, but the SWs that show up run very big.
Nothing like siring a Derby winner - with potential for a classic winner. He himself won the Travers beating the best of his generation - and a good second in the BC Classic. Could have won HOTY with a win there.
Still a bargain at $12k IMHO
