No, this isnt the Kentucky Derby, or even a stake race. Its a nice little homebred, running for a tag. Can you have any more fun than this??

Thats fantastic! You would have thought that BUMPY just won the Triple Crown - and to his owners and fans, he might just as well have. Good job BUMPY!
Thanks for posting that Halo - made my day...

Its what racing is all about, what 99% of the people here just don't understand. And probably never will.
Showed that to my boyfriend so he would understand why I was screaming at the tv (and why the dog was barking at me) on Saturday...
Love it! There is NOTHING like the rush when you win! When my mare finally figured it out and broke her maiden (at 5!! She was a late bloomer!) I ran past the ambulance and they actually asked if I was okay- I was laughing and crying so hard they thought I was hurt! I gave her a big kiss on the nose when I caught her and the folks in the grandstand starting laughing. We knew the announcer and he made sure to announce that it was my first win as an owner. A very special memory that I will have for a lifetime. Still have the win blanket to boot!
I've been known to make sounds approaching dog whistle territory.
No decorum here
In all seriousness, there really is nothing like a win except maybe a win by a homebred.
I know the feeling. I made an absolute fool of myself when one of our partnership horses broke her maiden at Saratoga. Hasn't done a damn thing since, but I'll always have that "rush".

Looked up Bumpy's record. Has 2 wins, but the first one was a DH, so this one was his first "all alone" win. More than likely, I would scream more than that if I happened to me. Would probably just float on down to the winner's circle.

If there is a higher high than watching your horse win a race, I don't know what it is and I haven't experienced it. I don't care what level the horse is running at. Good luck to Bumpy and his connections, and thanks so much for posting this. Got my morning off to a great start!

Well said. I hope Bumpy is running on a day that I am at Emerald Downs!!
I just love the way Bumpy dug in when his owner was cheering him on, it's like he heard her and did it for her![]()
That is exactly why I love horse racing more than any other sport out there. There is absolutely nothing in this life that compares to the rush of watching your horse run and win...at least not that I have ever found.
You should have seen me when my little Appaloosa mare beat a bunch of 17 hand + warm bloods in a huge Hunter Jumper show in her very first show. These were all horses being aimed at the huge hunter/jumper shows in Pa and NY. One class had 74 horses, all Euro breds and TB's. The judge was yelling "Hey Appy!" as she went by, and offered to buy her after the class was over. I was whooping and kissing my little 14.3 hand mare on the nose.
And that..is what racing's all about to me
