Street Life, 3rd in Peter Pan, works 1-2-mile in 47.82 seconds outside of Mister Pippit. Fractions: 12.13, 23.50, galloped out 5f in 1:00.55

Meanwhile, Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner I’ll Have Another galloped seven furlongs over the Belmont main track following the renovation break under exercise rider Humberto Gomez.
In the stretch, I’ll Have Another was reaching out nicely over the ground and had his ears up, all positive signs for the Doug O’Neill-trained colt.

Jack Whitaker does not want to sound greedy. After all, having turned 88 on the day before this year’s Preakness, there already had been 10 Triple Crown winners in his lifetime. But then, when I’ll Have Another came through the following afternoon to beat Bodemeister in their Pimlico thriller, Whitaker let his mind wander through the memories of Triple Crowns past and figured it was high time to do it again.

With Tammy Fox aboard, Dullahan went through splits of 26 seconds, 38.60, 51.40, 1:04.60, and 1:17.40 when passing under the wire a second time in 1:43, according to Churchill clocker John Nichols. His out time for 1 1/8 miles was 1:57.

Romans talked a little about how his regimen will change after being counseled that it is well within a horse to go 9 (or even 10) furlongs but any more than that needs to be trained in.

This horse figures to be tough in the Belmont. He has a trainer and jockey that have been there before, and has the pedigree to get the distance. He also has a running style that aligns well with this race, and has gained more racing experience since his last meeting with IHA in the SA Derby, where he only lost by a few lengths.

While I don't think it was all experience that separated them before -- and I think IHA has improved since the SA Derby, he is peaking at the exact time he needs to -- he has made a lot of progress and frankly, I'm a little afraid of him. A fresher horse with all the right things going for him.

While I'd love for Baffert to get that nose over the potential TC winner after RQ and SC, I don't want it to be this year. If it were with Bode that'd be one thing, shades of Victory Gallop and all that, but not this one. C'mon, racing gods, keep taunting Baffert one more year...
And listening to some big out a' town jasper, hearing him tell about horse-race gamblin'.
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on a horse!

How is he fresher -- just because his last 2 races were in easier company? Because he ran the same two weekends as IHA.

True superstardom is -- and should be -- as rare as a blizzard in June. When it reveals itself it is unmistakable, clear, permanent in memory and no less awesome than Secretariat opening 31 lengths, moving, in the words of announcer Chick Anderson, "like a tremendous machine," into the Belmont Park stretch.

I was thinking incorrectly when I wrote that, though he actually ran the week before the Derby - he'll be doing 3 weeks > 3 weeks as opposed to 2 weeks > 3 weeks. Which isn't that much better, though the unique rigors of the TC are not just the timing of the races. He's also run in shorter distances, and yeah, I will say that his hand ride on Preakness day likely took less out of him than running down a very game Bode did on IHA.

But he is less rested than I thought he was, so again, I was thinking incorrectly when I wrote that post.

Yes, there are benches and picnic tables available only to Ticketmaster people. They get spots guaranteed closer to the rail too.
