You're a bit behind-I posted that at 9:54 PM
Bodemeister with 6 career starts 82-101-101-108-99-109 has a Career Beyer AVG of 100.00
Very few if any make this list...I believe he's by himself for 1st 6 and there are few if any that have a career 100+...Ghostzapper???????
Maybe in the past... two years or so. A surprising number of horses can boast that accomplishment- I randomly pulled up the past winners of the Classic, and many of them qualified. Still, few horses start out there career with numbers like that. Clearly a pretty special animal.
No, highly doubt Bodemeister is unique in this regard. Medaglia D'Oro (whom this horse's pattern reminds me of, actually) off the top of my head ran a 100+ in his 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th starts (the 1st being his first maiden attempt, the 5th his abysmal Preakness effort) and I'm not sure he ran a sub-100 speed figure after the Preakness. He also definitely had a career 100+ average.
Curlin went 102-99-105-98-111-107-105-114-119-(130+)-(131+)-110-104-112-106 for his career.
I'm not sure what Formal Gold's 3yo season looked like, but he's Beyer's poster boy for a massive debut, getting a 112 to start his career. I don't think he ran many sub-100 figures.
Meanwhile, many many champion horses had a 100+ career average. Special, but not extraordinary.
Suni, Soto, Sham, whichever.
There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.
Macleams Music has the highest career BSF avg 114.00

Gonna carry Union Rags across the finish line? He isn't bred for the Belmont. He's barely bred to go a mile, and now he's going to be some kind of a phenomenon in the Belmont?
