Ginger Punch, Azeri, Laragh and Magical Fantasy ALL went to Zenno Rob Roy?! Good grief! Why?
Ginger Punch, Azeri, Laragh and Magical Fantasy ALL went to Zenno Rob Roy?! Good grief! Why?
I don't know. But I read earlier this year that Mr Kastumi Yoshida (Northern Farm) told his intention at a party to have top imported mares go to the sire.
Foals to come in 2011:
Azeri-->Zenno Rob Roy
Singhalese-->Zenno Rob Roy
Ginger Punch-->Zenno Rob Roy
Magical Fantasy-->Zenno Rob Roy
Raragh-->Zenno Rob Roy
Mandela--> Neo Universe
Buy the Sport--> Neo Universe
Bush Fire--> Deep Impact
Loves Only Me--> Deep Impact
Uma, am I remembering correctly that Island Fashion also went to Neo Universe? I'm a little confused about the Zenno Rob Roy thing. Kind of thought those mares would likely all go to Deep Impact. Oh, well
Also, is this photo you posted earlier of Gorella's foal her 2008 by Giant's Causeway, or a later foal?

Thanks for all the info!
Island Fashion produced a grey filly by Neo Universe on 12th March, and she too went to Zenno Rob Roy this spring. The foal will come on 5th April.
Yes, it is. Her name is Coulis de Fraises (=Gorella '08). Her next '2009 filly by Deep Impact is this:
http://carrotclub.net/horse/bosyuba.asp?id=1045#
Ooops. Island Fashion is a really big mare and I had it in my head that ZRR is too, but he's apparently just 16.1. I think I had him confused with Symboli Kris S, for some reason. And SKS is also about the same size as ZRR. I just always assume SKS is huge, because he and Rock Hard Ten look so much alike and RHT is huge.
I think I like Gorella's Giant's Causeway a little better than the Deep Impact. As small of a mare as Gorella is, Deep Impact wouldn't have been my first choice for her.
Gorella too went to Zenno Rob Roy this spring. Mares bred to ZRR this spring are absolutely of top quality. Among them (in total 254 mares covered) I pick up some other foreign-bred mares from the Shadai group:
Argentine Star (ARG) (*Pelusa's dam)
Epoca Rosa (USA)
Gaviola (USA)
Sasetti (IRE)
Seazun (IRE)
Shahtoush (IRE)
Singhalese (GB)
Danseuse d'Etoile (FR)
Dancing Edie (USA)
Donna Blini (GB)
Nikiya (USA) (*dam of Gold Allure)
Halwa Song (USA)
Paita (GB)
Proud Beauty (IRE)
Princess Olivia (USA)
Puntilla (GER)
Potrizaris (AGR) (*dam of Dia de la Novia)
Matikanetamakazura (USA)
Mandalara (IRE) (*dam of Mandesha)
May Ball (GB) (Prix Maurice de Gheest )
Rich Dancer (GB)
Reve d'Oscar (FR)
Vestrey Lady (USA)
Air Thule (JPN)
I don't think I previously realized that Gaviola was in Japan. I'd love to have her son Unbridle's Dream as a show horse.
Gaviola 2009 is a chestnut colt by Agnes Tachyon:
https://carrotclub.net/horse/lfx-bosyuba-id-1048.htm
Nouvelle Vauge, 2yo filly, out of Magic Code (USA) won her debut, 2000m turf for 2yo colts&fillies, at Hanshin today. The dam was the Champion Older Mare in Canada in 1999, and the bay filly is her 5th foal in Japan.
Nouvelle Vauge (#10)
She was the odds-on favourite (1.7), and, despite a slow pace in the first 1000m, showed a feathery turn of foot in the stretch to defeat colts. As you might notice, her silk is the same as Casino Drive's; their owner is Mr Hidetoshi Yamamoto. Her trainer, Mr Otonashi, said her main target will be the JPN Oaks next year.
In the link below, you can watch some recent photos&video of Wake Up Kiss2009 (USA) by Any Given Saturday:

Tosen Ra (= Princess Olivia '08) was entered in the inner 2000m turf track at Hanshin today and finished third. This was his second race.

TR, #2
a YouTube replay:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmTdybmwxQs
As you see in the replays, the pace was very slow (first 1000m= 1min 5sec), and unfortunately the colt was stuck in too narrow a space along the rail to be driven past the winner. Of course, his avid fans are angry with the jockey (Y Take) for the ride.![]()
For adding up enough purse to secure a starting stall in Tokyo Yushun (=the JPN Derby) next spring, the defeat was certainly a blow to his connections; it would mean a few more races for the colt that would otherwise have been not necessary.
This YouTube replay of the second race for TR is better than the two posted above:
●These may be uploaded elsewhere, but this is Azeri 2010 (filly by Distorted Humour):

She belongs to the Sunday Racing Club, and the club quoted JPY 1,250K for getting one share of 40 shares in total.

This colt from the same club has been well spoken of, and is popular among prospective owners. JPY 1,500K each (40 shares in total).
It's a good thing that an attractive head isn't really a selling point in a racehorse, because Gorella's son has a majorly homely one! Thanks for posting, Uma. It's nice to be able to see the offspring of mares who raced in the US but went elsewhere for their breeding careers.

(*) Her 2yo half-brother by Street Sense was named Street Hunter (see the photo below; trainer: K. Sumii) and will make his debut on 25 June (1200m dirt at Hanshin). He attracts attention of 2yo watchers because his workout at the Ritto Training Centre was outstanding (fastest among all 2yos trained there on 8th June).

Thanks, umaLooks like the Island Fashion definitely got that Sunday Silence hindleg. It's an awkward time for a lot of yearlings.

(displayed in the Shadai Tour 2011, to the prospective owners of club horses bred at the Shadai group, on 10 June)
This filly is bred at Shadai Farm, the dam's first foal in Japan, and belongs to G1 Thoroughbred Club, a new Shadai-affiliated horse club, to be owned by general fans (40 share, JPY 900K each). Please see her again at her page:
http://www.g1tc.co.jp/photo/10013.jpg
She will be tained by Mikio Matsunaga (who trained Red Desire, etc).
(*) Her half sister by Smarty Jones, Noble Jewelry (US), has been back to Shadai Farm to take a short break.
Another photo of Noble Stella 2010:

Tour participants are equally so positive about her that getting one of her 40 shares would be difficult.
Love Only Me (USA) 2010 (f, by Danehill Dancer)
http://endo64.cocolog-nifty.com/phot.../06/14/174.jpg
The dam is unraced, half-sister to Rumplestiltskin, knocked down (for $900K at Keeneland 2009) to Mr Katsumii Yoshida, the representative of Northern Farm. Grandam, Monevassia, is a full sister to Kingmambo. Love Only Me 2011 (JPN) is a colt by Deep Impact.
when dancing edie was with howard zucker, i walked her. she was crazy. had no idea she was exported... and i'm surprised because, sure she won a G1 but i never thought she was omg-horse-is-so-get quality.
