Thread: IHA - Where does he end up?

IHA - Where does he end up?

Where would you like to see him stand? Someone in KY will take him.. I can't see this horse going anywhere else, even California, right off the bat. I wonder if they're going to get anything over 20k for him. As it's been said before, Flower Alley's not exactly hot. But he does have Arch as a broodmare sire, and Arch has been hot lately in that aspect.

I would have guessed 3Cs, but maybe Claiborne or Gainesway? Or do you think I'm being too optimistic?
    Soylent Green is....... tasty????? o.0

I'd like to see him at Claiborne, but aside from Blame, it's been a long time since they've had a new horse with mega-hype. I think.. and most of their stallions are homebreds or owned by Adele Dilschneider (god, I hope I spelled it right). I call Lane's End on this.

Spendthrift had been snapping up every G1 winner with 4 legs, a tail and balls, but maybe they're done? Three Chimneys has been developing a relationship with IHA's connections, so it wouldn't shock me to see him go there.

I've always wondered how many stalls and barns they have at Spendthrift for the stallions. I remember the farm stood A LOT of stallions in the 80s, early 90s before it went bankrupt. For example, I grabbed the 1985 Bloodhorse Stallion Directory and they had 39 stallions standing there.

They have that U-shaped barn and a regular barn right next to it. I think they still have room to add more, if they want. I have to say they did a nice job remodeling the U-shaped barn, updating it while keeping the original integrity.

I've heard that Three Chimneys is the "highest bidder" right now, but I do not know how accurate that was.

Them or Claiborne I'm content with. If 3Cs does get him, then they've had the last three Derby/Preakness winners which is pretty cool.

I think the difference with Claiborne is they try and prove their horses worthy of hype, rather than the other way around. War Front is a good example.

I'd like to see him at Three Chimneys, but it wouldn't surprise me if he went to Lane's End, either.

Re: IHA - Where does he end up?

An assistant trainer for Doug O'Neill stated that IHA another is being shipped back to CA next week. You know they've been negotiating with stallion farms since the KD and Preakness. IHA could recover just as well in KY, if he were slated to go there. But they are shipping him to CA, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him stand in CA, because that's where the Reddam's have ties.

It's been sometime, but didn't SWAPS stand in CA prior to being sent to Darby Dan in KY?

I'd be surprised if IHA starts his career at stud outside of Kentucky. The fact that he's being shipped to CA now is immaterial, first because it's no big deal to ship cross country, and second because the 2013 breeding season is seven months away.

I could see him going to Lane's End or Three Chimneys or even Spendthrift. But would anyone else be too surprised if Coolmore or Darley ended up with him?

I would be very surprised if Darley went after him. They like to get new stallions either bred by themselves or by their own stallions.

Re: IHA - Where does he end up?

My bet is Three Chimney's as well. What about WinStar; being they have Distorted Humor? Maybe they don't go after unproven stallions.
Don't be so afraid of dying that you forget to live.

Re: IHA - Where does he end up?

Standing him at TC alongside his sire would be interesting. Do you go to the 'proven' but not so hot sire, or go with the flashier, probably over priced, not so sound son?

Wonder if the new owner at Calumet is throwing out some feelers? Sure would be a feather in the cap of a reborn and rejuvenated Calumet Farm. I sure would like to see that grand old establishment prosper in a new age...

It would be interesting, but I think he's giving ice box and cactus ridge until the end of the breeding season, then they're out. So, I don't think he's wanting to stand stallions at Calumet unfortunately.

Oh, I didn't know that. I was somewhat under the impression that he wanted to restore the operation to its former grandeur - including the stallion division. That's too bad, if that is the case...
