Thread: Fleur De Lis Hdp (G2)

Re: Fleur De Lis Hdp (G2)

I wake up from my nap, to see this. I'm awake now!

Wow wow wow! Is she back or what!? Visually (just the way she looked) that is the best I've ever seen her. Now I know what Leon meant when he said she's been jumping out of her skin! Ears pricked the whole way! And the way she so easily cruised past them on the turn! She looks wonderful!! I'm so excited!!

That was a devastating performance by Royal Delta.

I know it is premature to speculate, but I wonder if they might send her in the BC Classic rather than the Ladies Classic? And I am excited that they want to get invited to the World Cup next year because that means that we might see her as a 5 year old if everything goes well.

If they are talking about the DWC next year already then we can talk about the BCC. I honestly wouldn't be surprised at all to see her try the BCC instead. For a few reasons. She not only ran faster than the boys today, same track, same day, same distance, but she did it in practically an easy gallop. And the boys she ran faster than, were more than half of the top older males so far this year that would be pointing to the Classic. 1 1/4 is probably her best distance. And I'm not seeing much this year that says anyone else will like it any more. And at SA, 1 1/4 may work for her better than a 1 1/8. If they are willing to take on the DWC, why not the Classic?

Impressive win by Royal Delta and congrat to Bill Mott for his 2 wins yesterday. Looks like Royal Delta is headed for the Delaware Cap and a showdown with It's Tricky.

Mott also will work backward from the Nov. 2 BC Ladies’ Classic with Royal Delta, who was absolutely sensational in winning the Grade 2 Fleur de Lis Handicap a half-hour before the Foster. Royal Delta, the defending champion in the BC Ladies’ Classic, earned a 110 Beyer with her eight-length, geared-down triumph under Mike Smith. Her winning time of 1:49.49 for the 1 1/8 miles was 1.02 seconds faster than what her male counterparts ran in the Foster.
Mott said the Grade 2, $750,000 Delaware Handicap on July 21 at Delaware Park is a possible next start for Royal Delta, the 3-year-old filly champion of 2011.

She is a sight to look at. So elegant but yet so powerful looking.

I imagine after that race It's Tricky got even more possible for the Suburban.

Wow, she really just loped along home! Made it look effortless. I would love to see her potentially race in the BCC, personally.

    Why do you think that?

“She just had them over a barrel today,” Smith said. “I could tell you a lot of different things. But I could have ridden her backwards today and she still would have won.”

Smith afterward called Royal Delta “a monster.” “I told Billy when I got back, I’m not too sure I should get paid,” he said. “She’s got a lot of room to improve. She has at least another five gears in her, so there’s no telling how good she could be.”

“I keep getting blessed with these big beautiful fillies that can really, really run,” he said. “… .Heading for home, she was just in a gallop. I looked over at the big teletron and she was seven, eight in front and there was no use getting after her after that. I just wanted to make sure she got home safe and I stayed on.”

I wasn't sure if that's what he was saying or if it was the opposite. It's Tricky beat Awesome Maria who defeated Royal Delta, so they may try males instead? lol

She was possible for the race before yesterday, and after yesterday you might think they are even more inclined to avoid Royal Delta, especially at 1 1/4.

I had no idea she was possible for the Suburban.

I'd probably rather take on MMM, Stay Thirsty and Flat Out at 1 1/8 than Royal Delta at a 1 1/4. Who else is possible for the Del Cap?

I don't know about the Delaware Cap but I assume some from yesterday's Obeah are pointing there.

To Honor and Serve is running in the Suburban as well. Not so sure about Mucho Macho Man, as when I ran into his connections the other day they were non-commital. I hope he does run.

Could be. She did run 2nd to Royal Delta at 10 F in the Alabama last year.

Royal Delta was much the best. I thought SJR may do well, but she couldn;t get up there with this horse. Was no match for her. This filly ran like a champion that she is.
