I just... I don't... is this real life?
My mind is just as confused. Why is this discussion even happening.. what is the point? What end result are we trying to achieve by comparing last year's race to this year's race? And the biggest question is: How is this tied with Black Caviar's race tomorrow?

GO BC! Go show them who the best filly in the world is!

Ok, this must be some new branch of mathematics I am not familiar with.
Here it is once again... http://www.turftrax.co.uk/pdf/tracki...1%20Report.pdf
Those show the internal splits that each individual horse ran, timed by a chip in each horse's saddle pad.
Where in there do you see 16s+ for any horse for the final furlong?

What Timeform said is.. "it follows that Frankel's 11 lengths winning margin was equivalent, more or less, to 2 seconds." .
That is winning margin for the full 8f of the race.
Where does it say he ran the final furlong 2 seconds faster than any other horse?

So that is where my error comes in -- part of what I was counting in the final furlong actually is in the 2nd to last furlong split (which officially is almost 1.40 seconds difference). So it still looks off by .60 of a second to me.
You do know that the horses are timed by a chip, right? There's really no reason for you to be inaccurately eyeballing it.

This is getting beyond ridiculous. Am not even gonna try to talk some sense into this, this time.

Personally I hope that Nelly does something amazing today. Only a few hours to go and I'm already nervous! *crosses fingers for Nelly*

Still trying to find a live feed. I have HRTV, but from the way the schedule looks, they aren't showing the race live. Grrrr!

Edited to add: HRTV has Royal Ascot live now. My error.

Thanks for the live link. The race that was just on there...turned it one in the middle of it. Don't know what it was, don't know who the jockey or horse was, but down the stretch there was a horse running dead last, dropping back fast, totally and absolutely beaten, and without hope...and getting the crap whipped out of him by the jockey.

Personally, I'd like to put that jockey under a whip. 50 lashes sounds about right.

Nelly looks really relaxed. That's what her trainer always says: he's afraid she might fall asleep until she steps onto the track, then she's transforming into something else. Waaaah, so excited!

Glad she is. :-) I'm too nervous to enjoy the buildup!

It's kind of funny watching everyone crane to get a look at her. Can't blame them.

The greatness of her ability is that she is a great breaker and is always in good position in the race
