I'm really confused by the amount of interest in Zensational. I know I'm usually late to the party anyway, but it seems like Zensational caught my attention and then immediently -BOOM- retired. And it seems with the market being the way it is, and breeders being more conservative, that there shouldn't be this much interest... I dunno. I mean, he seemed like a nice enough colt, but was he really that great?

Well, there are explanations for most of those mares.

Indian Blessing and Behaving Badly were both also trained by Baffert for longtime clients. I'd guess he had some influence on those matings.

Handpainted and Lady Tak are both owned by Hill n Dale. Lady Tak is a partnership, I think, but still.

Star of Goshen is owned by Zayat, Zayat owns Zensational. There you go.

I thought Zensational was the best stallion prospect to retire this year. He was very fast, the Fappiano line has done very well and he has an excellent physical (except his head, which is terribly homely). Young sons of Unbridled's Song have been fashionable/popular. None of them have really hit it big yet, though.

I agree nothing sensational about Zensational. I guess Zayat needs money to repay all those loans.
