Great race by Bayrir but was still happy with Silver Max's effort. This is gonna be one exciting Breeders Cup this year if all these same horses show up for Breeders Cup weekend

Given that many euro trainers have said they will stay home this year, I dont think the Breeders cup turf races will be that strong.

I'm sure that Aidan O'Brien will probably have a contingent. And it'd be cool if they aim Galikova to the Cup

AOB has said he doesnt like the sa turf course and the trip is far. his best horses will run on champions day.

Speaking of O'Brien, I hope he doesn't agree to bring Daddy Long Legs all the way here again. Three US tries, two different surfaces, three last place finishes.

I thought either Gosden or O'Brien would walk away with some hardware.

So what would you call Cape Blanco then?? Cause I believe he was a Group 1 winner over there...ala the Irish Derby....I wouldn't say he always just sends over his b/c stringers.....

CB is one of the top 8 I have EVER seen BUT he was a B stringer. his top MD horse last year was St.Nick as shown in the BC turf

I think Cape Blanco really flourished here. The nice thing about Obrien and Gosden not stealing the show is that more European trainers may consider running here. I also have this fantasy that turf racing in America will improve and one of the ways racing heads off its t loss of a gambling monopoly is through an internationalization of the sport. Santa anitas new surface doesn't help this year but new drug policies might for the BC.

Absolutely. He Had a run worthy of the record books.I don't think we will ever see a horse come to the USA to win three prestigious grade one's while being trained on another continent. The BC's ever evolving drug policy's will benefit euro horsemen but champions day will definitely hurt euro participation. And if the BC keeps holding the event in So.Cal then that will really hurt it.

I do not know how in the world you could say that CB is a B stringer....just my opinion....St. Nick is very very nice no doubt...I would say they are both A stringers....

Off the top of my head: Giant's Causeway, Rock of Gibraltar, So You Think, Galileo, Dylan Thomas, Duke of Marmalade, High Chaparral, George Washington. All second stringers? Huh.

The B string of coolmore travel while the A string stays in Europe. just look at this season for an example. imperial monarch, power,st.nick, excel, and wrote all in Europe. while daddy long legs, treasure beach came to the us. last year treasure beach and CB came to the states while st.nick, fame and glory stayed in Europe.
