Here is a Smarty colt out of Lean Queen Cobra by Deputy Minister, foaled March 8... Aww!!

And instead of doing a new post for this picture, I'll just edit here to add a bigger pic of the Dance Partner filly. You can see her better and I think she's VERY pretty!!

I have to say, I am head over heels for that Smarty x Star of Broadway girl. She's just lovely. I think I'll keep an eye on her!
And listening to some big out a' town jasper, hearing him tell about horse-race gamblin'.
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on a horse!

Re: Any New Smarty babies pictures?

Well the filly out of Must Be A Lady went for $150K, and here's a little bit from the DRF about her and her pictures for anyone who missed them on the last page (the part about her failing to meet her reserve of $125K is wrong though... that was the high bid which did not meet whatever her actual reserve was):

The sale's only Smarty Jones yearling, and the first to sell at public auction, brought $150,000 from John Kimmel, agent. The chestnut daughter of the Lord at War winner Must Be a Lady turned a profit for sellers Jim and Karen Perrone of Perrone Sales. They bought the Smarty Jones filly as a weanling at last year's Keeneland November sale, where she failed to reach her reserve at $125,000.

"We bought her privately after the sale for a lot less," Jim Perrone said. "I love this filly. She's got a lot of class and moves well. I thought she might bring $200,000 to $250,000.

From what I've read, apparently she's on the small side which is the reason she didn't go for more than she did. That is still a very nice price, though, and I'm glad the people that bought her privately made a profit. But once again a word used to describe a Smarty baby is 'classy'. It's interesting because that is something I've heard a bunch of times now, which is a very good thing!!

Anyway, I remember reading that this filly's breeders were very happy with her as a foal and she has a baby full sister to prove it

Re: Any New Smarty babies pictures?

Just thought I'd post here about Smarty's full sister Elusive Moment's first official work (and I'll also post another small but cute pic of the Star of Broadway filly and a nice one of Smarty too). Anyway, Elusive Moment's first work...

    Elusive Moment (IRE)
Your Comment: 2005 F. Elusive Quality x I'll Get Along

    Date: July 27, 2007
    Track: BOWIE
    Distance: Three Furlongs
    Time: 37:20 Breezing
    Track Condition: Fast
    Surface: Dirt
    Rank: 4/11

I did a little looking and it seems that her trainer Ed Gaudet is kind of based at Bowie?? Winning Point, who he trains, is anyway. So I don't know, but it looks like a nice first official work to me!!

Smarty also has a lot of babies in the upcoming September sale, including a few named ones... Sommelier Smarty, the colt out of Boozin' Susan and Kiddari (speaking of big engines :wink, the half-sister to Forest Camp. And the filly out of La Gueriere whose picture is in this thread... and the filly out of Heritage of Gold, etc... Some very nice ones!! Looks like Juddmonte must be keeping the really nice looking Musicanti colt. And Smarty's half-brother by Sadler's Wells is not listed, so I guess either Coolmore is keeping him or maybe he'll wind up in a sale over there?? I guess we'll find out eventually.

But anyway, here are those pics...

Re: Any New Smarty babies pictures?

Adieu, thanks for the info on the full sis to Smarty working. I got that, too, and it's exciting. And thanks for the info on the upcoming sale and the babies he has in there! I hope someone takes pics so we can see. And that pic of Smarty you have up standing at the fence. He looks SO GOOD! There is no one like him!

Re: Any New Smarty babies pictures?

Ok, some pictures from the Saratoga sale thanks to HorsePhotos!!

The Alaska Queen colt was I guess a late out, so I don't know if he was bought privately or it was something else but hopefully he'll turn up somewhere!! I like the look of him...

The filly out of Pleasant Point sold for $150K. I read that she is apparently a little on the smallish side but is another that looks very much like her daddy. She sold to GoldMark Farm in Ocala.

And the White Gulch colt went to Bruce Lunsford for $650K. He's a few months older than the other two so obviously more mature looking. And very good looking, too!! There are several pics of him...

Re: Any New Smarty babies pictures?

Thanks for the info on the Smarty babies, Adieu, and the links to the pics. I love the looks of the Alaska Queen, and also what I can see of the PP filly. I'm happy to hear that the White Gulch went for such a good price, AND to Bruce Lunsford. Didn't he own Miss Madcap? Anyway, the White Gulch fellow is very nice looking! Love all those 4 white socks. And there is something about his eyes that I really like.

A couple pics of the filly out of the Chilean Champion (with about 3 or 4 other Champions I think under her 1st dam) Crystal House by Golden Voyager. Obviously they're from back in early March not long after she was born...

Oooh.. that head is unfortunate. She's nice enough except for that head/neck set she's got. She's got a kind eye at least.

Her head is a bit coarse, and the neck is a bit eweish, but she'll prolly get the length on it later on. I wouldn't worry too much about her.
