what a goof! Drew he is growing into a very handsome fellow. My one little guy used to love his ball too even though it was almost to big for him and our filly used to like to kick hers around like a soccer ball. Our trainer kept the one we had for his horses and they like it as well. Long live the ball! LOL!

I will definitely be posting pictures as his training progresses. He won't be working on the track for a loooong time as we are still learning the basics. I am hopeful that he will be on the track with a trainer by late summer or early fall. I'd like to make sure he's physically ready for everything, but you know how that goes. I will also keep you updated with video clips of his training. It's so nice to have other horse people that I can share Tino's day-to-day life with. A large number of my friends are non-horse people, so if I show them a picture of Tino, they're like "wow. four legs and a tail. impressive." Lol.

And thanks again to all of you for the nice words about Tino; they mean a lot.

And you know what else is so funny? He has two other jolly balls in his stall that he has squished and loves tossing around, but the pink one is his favorite. We bought him that before he was born (can you tell we were expecting a filly? lol) and for whatever reason he will throw down the other ones if he sees that any of us are holding the pink one and get upset that someone else has it. And if you throw it he will actually go get it and bring it back. I think he thinks he's a dog. He's such a character.

That was fun! And, I have to say, for a young horse, he knows how to get that back end under him, IMO. I'm having so much fun watching him grow up.

Thanks Serena and Tracy! Well, I rode Tino for the first time in the outdoor arena. It went pretty good. He did his usual big jump that he does when he's excited about something, but (somehow...lol) I managed to stay on and he settled down. I have to say it's quite a thrill getting to be the first one to ride a horse you bred and own (I can't imagine how all you guys who breed horses annually do it- such a thrill!). I will add some pics when he gets to be better behaved. I am adding a few pics I took of him during his playtime this weekend.

Thanks Catinca! I managed to get a couple of him up on his hind legs, since that seems to be his favorite pose.

Love him! He's quite the character isn't he? Looks like he's going to take no prisoners on the track, and attitude to boot! I always loved it when you give them a bath, then turn them out a few hours later and roll, roll, roll.

    Re: My Yearling- updated photo

Here are a few pics of Tino we took this week. My farrier recommended a young guy that's really great with the young horses, so I decided to go that route. He's learning really fast and enjoys his lessons, but he really has a lot of attitude. I'm going to let his trainer take him on some trails this summer and just get him used to getting out and about. The nice thing with this colt is that nothing intimidates him. Of course that attitude does cause a few problems- he will turn around and bite the rider's foot when he thinks the rider asked him for something too strongly. We're working on getting that fixed.

Very nice, and under western tack to boot. Nothing like have a well rounded horse. I have heard people using hot sauce to discourge the biting behavior. He's quite the character.

Thanks Serena! He's really doing great (and not trying to bite feet anymore either!). I'm posting a couple of new pictures of him I took this morning. Enjoy!

I love how his eye follows you in most of his pics, kinda like he's saying "I know I'm special, look at me!"
