Midweek Results June 2nd @ Belmont

Its a beautiful summer day at Belmont Park and a crowd of 50,000 has arrived to watch the races. The walking ring is 20 deep hoping to catch a glimpse of the undefeated BOTS filly's who are a perfect 6 for 6 this year but thats a story to be told another day. Today its a race for individual glory and all entrants are primed and ready to rock. The gate crew has loaded the field and all are awaiting the start. As the bell rings the field is off and KD shows early foot as they hit the clubhouse turn followed by Real Quiet and Beng. The colts are determined to set the pace today and say "catch me if you can". As the field hits the backstretch Beng accelerates to the front but Elite Mercedes is right at his flank. Into the Mystic has joined the leaders as Real Quiet and KD settle into the pack. Ruffian, Criminal Type and El Prado are within string distance and Dusty can "see them all". The field has hit the turn and Beng is still the leader and sits chilly in the saddle. Into The Mystic is right there and Elite Mercedes is in with a chance. KD and RQ are shortening stride. Ruffian, CT, El Prado and Dusty look to move up but time is fleeting. And Down the Stretch they come. Finding a second gear Into The Mystic has the most left and at the sixteenth pole tries to distance herself from the field. Beng is stubbornly holding onto second while Criminal Type was 7th, 6th, 5th, 4th........now 3rd with the wire approaching. The rest are just looking to pick up a piece of the purse. And at the wire leaving no doubt who gets the accolades today is Into The Mystic with an 8 of 9 ITM day. Criminal (who's an old warhorse?) Type gets second and just ran out of ground. Beng holds on for 3rd after setting a strong pace. Dusty scores next week and Into The Mystic picks the track (boy the filly's are into everything) <grin>. Congrats Into The Mystic on your nice win and to CT and Beng for standing up for the colt division. Please check your tickets for accuracy before the "Cat" puts up the official sign.

when I saw I had $76.90 actually thought maybe I managed to win - shoulda known some filly would beat me at the wire - so what else is new

Kudos to ITM for enough to hold me off at the wire

And this comes right after that Cat had the nerve to pass me at the wire to win by a whisker last week!

I think these Fillies are witches in drag with some kind of spell to always beat us this way
---- well almost always anyway

At least RQ managed to win SS last week which is a feather in our somewhat shabby bonnet
and at least its a Filly in the basement today
so we saved some face (the nose?)
