    Database error message/board down

Anyone else getting that for a few minutes when trying to post?
I know this is a message from the message board gods for me to go away, but it does seem to have been something that I have noted along with others here since this board moved to this new server. Which I think was predicated on resolving the old server hang issues?

I know V is trying, but we are right back where we were before the change, and there are also other issues that did not exist back then

My biggest issue is that posts are not up to date on the thread page. In a popular thread it may show no new posts in four hours, but if I click on the thread there may be an entire page or two of new posts.

I see new posts ok, although the "Another post has been posted while you were composing a post" option is not on this format?

Anyway, V, what is up with the database error messages? They happen a lot....and have since within the first few days of switching over?

V....the time delays seem to be cyclical. I am not having the problem now

Bopper, how about clearing your browser cache? That might help. Dunno what browser you're using but it's worth a shot.

I have that same issue, but only on AOL. My front forum page shows posts made about 9 hours ago. It always does so I have to actually go into the Racing Forum to see what's there.

I got the database errors this morning, but only once. It's only irritating when what you've written disappears after you've spent time writing something.

This morning, from about 7:15 to 7:30, I tried to get on this forum via AOL, IE and Firefox and I went straight to Database Error each time.

The most irritating situation, I think, is when I am on the forum, I respond to a post by typing a paragraph or two and then get the dreaded DE screen, because that's when I lose my entire post. We have two choices ... chuck it or try to reconstruct what you just wrote.

Gin...best solution is to copy what you have written before hitting the submit button. Then you can try again if you get the error message and not lose what you wrote.

Yeah, I have done that when I've rewritten a post. It usually comes when I'm not expecting it and haven't made a copy. If I lose something, then I'll copy it before I resubmit, just to make sure.

Unlike the prior situation, when it was difficult 24/7 to get onto the forum, this seems a lot more sporadic. Maybe early in the morning, there's something going on internally which causes this issue.

Yep, you can be cruising along thinking the site is fine and you have spent 15 minutes on a response...then BAM...error message when you try to post and you didn't copy it.

Anyone using FireFox can get a free add-on called "Lazarus: Form Recovery". It's a real lifesaver when it comes to forums and forms.

I got the Database Error message a lot yesterday. I've also had the experience of submitting a comment and being told I have to log in when I'm already logged in. Then, when I log in again, it kicks me out of the thread and I lose the comment I wrote. I use Firefox so I'll check out My Flag's tip on the form recovery extension.

Good. I have resolved my problem of posts not showing up on the thread list. In the past you could hit 'racing" when you were at the bottom of a page. I had been going to my sidebar of faves to TBC to do this since the feature was no longer available with one click. Now I scroll pback up to the top of the page and hit "racing" and everything is up to date.

I'm still getting it too. I tried to get in early this morning... woke up with a splitting headache... and banging my head against the wall in frustration didn't help much.
I did find out that if I went to the homepage I could sort of sneak in the back way through the link there.
