By that logic, how many times have the following horses been out of they money -
Quality Road?
Blame?
Musket Man?
Presumably they'll be in your ice-cold exacta too, no?
Eh, but hey, another premature, over-the-top, and relatively useless thread. What happens if Zenyatta and L@L draw the 13 and 14 holes? TWhe 1 or 2 holes What happens if the track comes up sloppy? What happens if there is an obvious speed bias throughout the Cup? Eh, not that you care. As long as you can handicap a race two weeks out, you're happy, right? Why bother responding...
Well there's lots of smart ideas in books I've never read, when the girls come talk to me I wish to hell I had
The record is not the reason for the selection...They are the only 2 true 10f horses in the race...The 1 Post means nothing in a 14 horse field as opposed to a 20 horse field where the 1 hole is alligned with the rail and infield..There would have to be monsoonal rains for days like this past Derby to change my selections, but it calls for only some light or mild rain...![]()

Musket Man and Paddy O'Prado shouldn't be in the race...Quality road is not a 10f horse...Gio Ponti will be passed by Zenyatta and Lookin At Lucky like he's standing still or has a bad footache. Blame may get a distant third....
Zenyatta: HOY
Lookin At Lucky: 3 Y.O. Eclipse Award
This will happen if Zen-Lucky or Lucky-Zen
Quality Road may not be a '10f horse' but his 10f record is superior than Lucky's.
Musket Man may not be a '10f horse' but his 10f record is superior than Lucky's.
Actually in Lucky's only try beyond 9f, he seemed to actually flatten out a bit late and let horses like Yawanna Twist, First Dude, and Jackson Bend hang around.
Just sayin...

And this is based on their collective 10f record of 2-1-0-0, right? They are the only 2 true 10f horses in the race
For the record ... I wasn't predicting Gio to win ... Just commenting on Larry's comment about 10 furlong experience in the field.
If I had to pick a straight trifecta cold ... I'd go ... Zenyatta ... Lucky ... Quality Road ... For the record. ;-)
I actually think QR will do better than everyone thinks ...
Live life, don't just exist it!
I see only one horse in the Classic that moves up at a mile and a quarter. My only question about her is how well she handles the flight. I believe she has one more strong finish left in her. The rest of them will all have a different number but the same name. For one day they are all named Sitting Duck.
I expect Blame to run better than his last. I loved his last workout. I love Lucky, but at this point I think I would play him underneath the other two. Not very creative but that's how it looks to me.
Next year, Lucky.
And turf to dirt might not be a bad angle to play at Churchill. It's not a bad angle in general. It's just been a few years since I have had a chance to use it over here. I'm a little rusty.
See, I really think that Lucky has the potential to go off as the 2nd choice. He's got just about every intangible (popularity, Baffert, name recognition) and he brings a winning streak into the race. I wouldn't be shocked to see him at 9/2.
On the other hand, I have Blame at 5/1 - 11/2 right now, and Quality Road at 7/1. I'm really not reading anything regarding QR right now to indicate that the public regards him at the level of the other 3 for this race. I wouldn't even be surprised if he crept toward 10/1.

Lucky is the strong second choice in almost all of the current offshore betting.

The William Hill list is pretty accurate.

Would like to see Borel get the ride on Fly Down.
The experienced handicapper that I am (NOT) I really do like Lucky in this one -- if not to win it all, be second to Zenyatta.
I am not used to this as a gambling expression. In my circles, an "ice . . . box" is a refrigerator. A "cold exacta" means getting the order right.Zenyatta + Lookin At Lucky ...Ice Cold Exacta Box
