Fly Down is the potential bomb in the Classic

Out of all of the Classic horses that will go off at double digit odds, I think Fly Down has the best chance of hitting the board at a huge price to add to the exotics (i.e. Awesome Gem, Premium Tap, Flower Alley). Fast enough, has won at Churchill, has run strong at the Classic Distance.

I don't mind him, per se. There are worse places to go when looking for a bit of a price. I thought his race at Belmont last time was strong, and he should receive a similar pass for that one as Blame does in my book. Then again, Blame did outkick him that day, and he appeared to do it pretty easily. I do expect Fly Down to move forward on BC Day with a more favorable pace to run at and a two-turn race configuration.

My favorite longshot is still Musket Man.
Well there's lots of smart ideas in books I've never read, when the girls come talk to me I wish to hell I had

I like him a lot, butt his refusal to change leads will continue to hurt him

Morning Line is my price horse in the Classic. I am not a fan of Zito but I love the pedigree on this guy & he is an improving 3 year old that is just now finding himself as a racehorse & still could be any kind.

I like Morning Line to so he's my pick....Tiznow needs a good BC runner again.

out of all the horses in the classic besides zenyatta he looked good as well his dapples were showing. its ashame cause he's going to be running in dubai now because he was bought privately before the classic i guess.

    I didn't hear that.

Same odds as Premium Tap, same fate.

It was nice knowing you, Fly Down.

He's going to be a nice horse next year. (are they even running him as a 4yo?) This is one horse that is better going longer.

    QR and Haynesfield flopped.

Lookin at Lucky...never did the get the hype over him.

Re: Fly Down is the potential bomb in the Classic

Lucky doesn't appear, to me at least, a horse that's ever truly going to relish running beyond 9f. I didn't like his Preakness much, I thought he flattened a bit late and allowed a trio of inferior horses to stay on with him, and I thought today's result was similar.

Fly Down will make for an interesting 4yo next year, and I'd be shocked if they didn't run him. The pedigree doesn't scream 'rush me to stud' and he still needs to earn himself some big wins.

Haynesfield will obviously be back, and I expect Asmussen to center on a schedule with him heavy on Belmont races. This horse is a monster over that course and at that one-turn format, but he's simply good elsewhere.

Quality Road, terrible way to go out, and disheartening that he showed nothing on Saturday. Always disappointing to see a talented horse go out without even trying. I'll always remember his Donn and Met, as well as that finish in the Whitney, though.

I hope his new owner keeps him here because he'd be a very good 4 year old, but I'm not getting my hopes up. It's probably off to Saudi Arabia for him.

I just read in the Paulick Report that Zito s/w the new owner and he expects the colt to be pointed to the Dubai World Cup -- that's good news, I think, in terms of the horse staying with Zito.

You have to wonder what might have been if he'd been in the race he would excel best in, the Dirt Mile. Everything would have been different. He might now be a two-time BC Dirt Mile champ.

So, MG, did you hit the superfecta in the Classic? If you used Fly Down for third, the 1st, 2nd and 4th spots were fairly easy.
