Proviso is hard to discount as well.

I'd love to see Sidney do well. But he's not gonna rate, it's clear by his past races and the way he's been training. He's not gonna be able to hold off the likes of the above after sprinting away.

Can you explain the methodology surrounding your handicapping? We hear 25 times daily that Zenyatta is a lead pipe lock single, and yet the 2 time defending queen from overseas will have to fight for 4th?

You won't find it in her past performances, her form, or her race spacing, so please just explain how you broke down this race.

Where do you hear this at? Because I hear more doubters that she'll even hit the board than people who think she's a lock.

This race screams Proviso.....She's beat males 3 times, won her last 4 starts and her only time out of the exacta in the US is when she was moved too soon in the Ladies' Classic last year. Why play Goldikova at probably less than 6-5 when this one is 12-1???

Proviso has also shown versatility. She can win from anywhere. And 12-1 is ridiculous.

totally agree. This is a showdown (once again) between Paco Boy and Goldikova. I can see Gio hitting the board, but the last furlong will be something to watch between the two rivals. Always exciting to watch

I can think of three reasons:
Goldikova beat Proviso
Goldikova beat Proviso again
Goldikova beats Proviso a third time

Proviso does seem to be better now, but is that because she wasn't facing Goldikova?

Are you saying that each horse stays the same in who it is capable of defeating throughout it's career? Proviso is a MUCH better horse in the US than she was in Europe....you can't really deny that. If you wanna follow your own logic, Proviso did beat Goldikova on one occasion last year as well...May 17, '09. It's been done before. My point is Goldikova is not worth 6-5 when this race is much closer that it appears.

Excellent points. I wasn't thinking of using her but this is going to be a rider's race and Mike Smith is a good play in a spot like this. The horses with a kick are going to have to be patient.

I don't think I'm leaving Goldikova off of my ticket. There are definitely some good reasons to look to beat her here.

For me, they make it harder to spot the thread I want because there are like 10 threads with a boatload of asterisks and all of them blend together.
